Its 7:30 am, I'm preparing my breakfast in the kitchen. My morning routine contains washing my face, preparing breakfast and brushing my teeth. My mom is barely home due to her job as a nurse, so over the years I've learned how to take care of myself. My dad left when I was about 3 and from what I've heard about him, hes a real asshole.
Today we have an English exam and i didn't really learn or anything, cause to be honest most of the time I get an A anyways. I also know im extremely privileged to be saying that and im really thankful, trust me.
"Bitch, hurry the fuck up!", I heard Maya scream from outside. I quickly ate my sandwich and went into the bathroom to brush my teeth. I grabbed my bag and stuffed my leftover sandwich in there. I took my keys and went out the door to see Maya standing there with an impatient expression, tapping her finger on the non-existing watch on her wrist.
"Maya, im 3 minutes late, calm down.", I said and went to grab my bike. "3 minutes too much, madame.", she said as if shes not the one im always waiting for. As we made our way to school we see and most definitely hear Jenna speed next to us with the most cringey songs on blast. Every. Goddamn. Time. Maya laughed and hyped her up, but I only rolled my eyes and tried not to die from secondhand embarrassment. "Come onnn, this time its was kinda funny.", Maya said but I just ignored her.
As we arrived at school Maya talked to some of the girls about the party I've already heard from in PE. I waited for Maya to be done talking to them, so we can walk to classes together. I saw Jenna, who's also involved in the conversation, look at me, so I held eye contact for fun. She winked at me and smirked stupidly, I fake puked and when Maya was done I walked to the lockers with her.
Of course Jenna had to follow me and ask: "So you probably spend the whole day learning for this stupid exam, huh nerdy?", I didnt look her once in the eyes but I could definitely feel hers on me. "Do you have nothing else to do than follow me around and ask me stupid questions?", I asked and looked up into her eyes, "Or cant you even go a day without talking to me?", I asked bravely and I could swear to god I saw her get nervous. She gathered herself and said, "The fuck? You really think youre all that huh?". With that she scoffed and walked into the classroom.
After the exam I went to the cafeteria and searched for Maya. I saw her sitting with Jenna and some other guys so I hesitantly took a free seat and began eating. "Hey, you coming to the party on Friday?", a guy we sat with asked me. Why is he asking me that? Who even is that guy? "Uhm, i dont know. I dont really go on parties, you know?". "Y/n is way too fucking boring to go on parties like that. She would probably just sit in the corner and read her stupid little books.", I heard Jennas annoying voice say. I ignored her and continued eating. Maya kicked my leg and gave me a 'You have to prove her wrong' expression. I just shrugged my shoulders and for the rest of lunch I listened to the conversations on the table.
As I made my way out of the building to my bike, the guy from lunch came running after me. "Hey, I get that you dont like parties but I would really like you to be there on Friday. It'll be fun, I promise.", he said and gave me the biggest puppy eyes as possible. "Why me?", I asked him and played nervously with the strain of my bag back. "This is gonna sound really weird but I've been watching you for a while and I think you're cool, sooo.", its an underestimation when I say I was shocked. I've never heard a guy tell me he likes me in any way.
"Sure, i'll definitely think about it.", I said and smiled friendly. He walked away to a group of people where Maya was also involved. I saw Jenna kick the guy whos name I dont even know. She looked angry at him for no reason. Is he one of her little toys who she only uses for some fun and money and now shes jealous, because he talked to me? I tried not to think about is too much, cause I tend to overthink a lot.
As Maya was done talking with them we both drove home. The rest of my day was nothing special. I cleaned the dishes, then ate something and went to bed.
