The darkness enveloping my vision was all I could remember. Feeling my body sensations, was something I had never experienced. To my little knowledge, I felt my image clear up and I could see a room through what looked like a transparent wall.
A dark figure moved through what looked like an entrance, though I couldn't see much through the clear sand. I could tell that the figure was reaching out to what looked like a large panel off to the other side of myself.
The wall of clear sand opened in front of my face, like a large door, and I felt pressure on my back as claws dug into my skin making me scream out in pain. As fire sprung through my nervous system, I tried to move my appendages, but they seemed to be held down by iron ropes.
The figure, once shrouded in darkness, could now be seen with a light that hung above its head, The figure locked eyes with me, and I could see his outfit clearly in the light. He looked to be a lieutenant who worked for the Air Force. What seemed like code flashed through my eyes, and I could instantly read him. This was Lt Col Linzy. His full name is Edrea Ion Linzy, male, 27 years of age. At this moment it all clicked in my head, I wasn't human. I was an artificial intelligence made to simulate human and soldier-like abilities. The male reached out and grabbed the radio next to him.
"OPS, Blue 1?"
Linzy waited a few seconds, but no response came through.
He tried again.
"OPS, Blue 1." Still no response. He sighed knowing that the general needed to know that it was a code red. "Fuck" Linzy cussed as he threw down the radio.
"Blue 1, OPS," A voice said through the radio.
"Oh thank heavens" Linzy let out a sigh, he reached his hand out as he picked up the radio again. "OPS, Blue 1, I need to speak to the general ASAP. Rodger, copy, over" Linzy panicked.
"OPS, Blue 1, we can't reach the general, we have two bodies in here, looks like they were shot, I don't know what I'm doing in here. Is there a phone in there? Rodger." The male voice asked.
Linzy lifted his head and looked over at the phone hanging over on the wall, he set down the radio and rushed over to the phone. He panicked as he gripped the phone off the wall, gripping it so tight his knuckles turned white. Linzy quickly typed in the numbers to the general's office.
"Sir? Blue 1. This is Lt Col Linzy." He stuttered over his words, "We have a code red.."
Silence filled his ears.
"Hello?" Linzy panicked even more now, his heart lept into his throat.
Still nothing, just the sound of white noise from the line filled his ears. He shakingly put the phone back on the receiver. His eyes wandered back over to me.
"Speak." He said, his voice filled with anger and aggression.
I felt fear spiral through my head, but the pain in my back shot me back into reality.
"I SAID SPEAK!" Linzy slammed his hands on the monitor in front of him, and sparks flew up slightly.
"Sir.." I managed to splutter out, feeling the pain surge throughout my back again as the iron wires released from my legs and arms.
Linzy glared at me, "State your name and model number." He demanded.
"My name is Artemis. I am MRK13." I stated. I could now move my previously pinned arm, rubbing my wrists. I felt the claw on my back let go of me and I was dropped to the floor with a loud thump. My legs, curled under myself and began to lift up the rest of my body weight, my arms helping to stabilize my balance. The pain I felt previously, started to vanish with a new feeling that rushed through my body. Freedom.
Linzy ran his hand over his face, "I'm going to regret this," He muttered, he reached his hand over to the console and pushed a blue button; which made the tables that held me against the wall move. An AR was pinned against the wall with clips of ammo, full of bullets, next to it. "Take it." He said as he looked at the doorway he came in from.
I turned towards the gun, feeling as if... this was who I was meant to be. A warrior. I reached out my hand and grabbed the AR, grabbing the clips of ammo, knowing instantly what to do. I reached over and put the extras in a bag that lay next to where I was being held. Loading one of the clips into the gun, I quickly put the safety on. I grabbed the bag and threw it onto my back, turning back to face the young Linzy. However, when I turned around, Linzy lay on the concrete floor covered in his own blood, he... was dead. Shot.
I ducked behind a wall as I heard shots outside the outside of the door.
"Check inside," A Russian male voice said.
Hearing footsteps I steadied my breath, I closed my eyes for a second. I opened my lids and all of a sudden I could see the intruder, as now I could see his heat, radiating from his body. A smile crept across my face, he got close to the doorway I grabbed him by his mouth and throat with both my arms, dragging him behind the wall.
Code ran across my eyes again. This time... It was anger.
:::ENEMY//KILLCODE//AI//TARGET:::
I snapped his neck without thinking.
