Belly arrived at Cousins. A place where she felt like she still belonged. In a way, it was more like home than her own. She exhaled as she already had how two cars outside. A range rover and a Jeep. She knew who both belonged to. But she didn't want to think of anything. She didn't want to think. She had exhaled as she stepped out of the car and immediately heard fighting.
"Get the hell out of here! You don't belong here and sure as hell shouldn't be here right now!"
It was her ex-boyfriend yelling at someone. Belly didn't have to guess very long to figure out who it was. She knew who Jeremiah was yelling at. She walked into the house, the front door wide open, and saw both of them. She saw the boy who broke her heart and the boy who had cheated on her.
"Why am I not supposed to be here, Jere?" Conrad had asked his brother straight.
It was clear that Conrad thought he had every right to be there at that given moment. Nobody was going tot ell him otherwise. Jeremiah had exhaled while he felt like punching his brother. All he wanted to do was find Belly and make sure she was okay.
"Belly isn't here, Jere, and I told you two years ago I would allow you guys to be happy," Conrad said as Belly scoffed.
"Biggest mistake of your life," Belly said as Conrad and Jeremiah looked at her.
"Bells. Thank hell, why aren't you answering your phone?" Jeremiah asked.
He approached Belly, wanting to hug her, and tell her it would all be okay. That he still loves her. But she had dived away from it and walked to the other side of the room.
"I didn't feel like talking to you," Belly said as Jeremiah looked at her.
"Belly, I know I messed up, but so did Conrad. Conrad..."
"Conrad didn't cheat on me. Conrad never even looked at another girl when we were together," Belly said as Conrad looked at Jeremiah.
"What did you do?" Conrad asked.
"None of your business. In fact, it is because of you that we broke up. If it wasn't for you..."
"We had a fight, Jere, and you decided to go to Cabo and sleep with I don't know how many girls instead of staying and talking it out. Don't blame your brother for this," Belly said.
"You are still defending him," Jeremiah said.
"Jeremiah, what the fuck did you do?" Conrad asked.
It was the last time that Conrad was asking. Belly could tell. She had exhaled dragging her hand through her loose hair while he didn't want to be the one to tell him.
"Jeremiah went through my stuff and found my infinity necklace. The one you gave me when I turned sixteen. We fought about why I still had it. It was spring break and rather than staying to properly talk about it, Jere went to Cabo where he had slept with one of his frat sisters," Belly said.
"I thought we were broken up!" Jeremiah yelled.
"Don't yell at her. You know as well as I do that there is a huge damn difference between an actual break-up and what that was. You left. You didn't even care to fight for her," Conrad said as Jeremiah launched forward, and punched his brother, causing Conrad to fall onto the ground.
"Conrad!" Belly said as she fastly approached him.
"Are you okay?" Belly asked.
"I'm fine, Isabel, I'm fine," Conrad said smiling as Belly looked at him.
"I'm okay," Conrad said softly and Belly nodded, slowly helping him up.
"Isabel?" Jeremiah said as Belly looked at Jeremiah.
"We're done, Jeremiah. Because you, believe it or not, messed up worse than Conrad ever messed up. Just go. Just... leave," Belly said.
Jeremiah looked at Belly for a second, before he had left the house. Wheels spinning against the ground and a car racing off. Belly looked at Conrad as she ran into his arms. She didn't know what to do nor say, but she also knew that he didn't. Conrad held Belly tight against him, allowing her to cry, as there was nothing he could do, but be there for her.
