Balan Wonderworld Goes to Hell

Episode Two: The Boy Trying to Reinvent the Airplane

(Start on the Isle of Tims. EMMA is standing in a patch of yellow flowers surrounded by yellow Tims.)

Emma-What did you say these guys were called again?

(BALAN approaches her.)

Balan-They're called Tims. They're born from the happiness of people in the real world. Their color changes depending on the color drops you give them.

(He takes a few yellow drops out of his sleeve and scatters them in the flower patch. The Tims gather around the drops and start eating them up. Cut to LEO, who is sitting in a patch of red flowers, surrounded by red Tims who are scurrying and chattering around him.)

Leo-You mean they're not Chocobos?

(BALAN flies over to LEO and leans into his ear.)

Balan-(whispering) We don't talk about the Chocobos.

(He starts walking away. LEO sits there in silence. Then his eyes widen in realization.)

Leo-WAIT, THEY'RE REAL?!

(He scares the Tims away. BALAN is walking towards door number 4, which has a windmill beside it.)

Balan-But I think that's enough relaxation for now. We still have 11 more hearts to save.

(LEO gets up, and he and EMMA run towards the door.)

Emma-What do you think this person's problem is?

Leo-Probably a dead sister.

Balan-That's not it! I'm saving all the deaths for the end! This one is about the horrors of constant failure.

Emma-What do you say, Leo? Are you ready?

(LEO shrugs.)

Leo-Can I say no?

Balan-Great! Then let's go!

(They walk through the door. Opening theme. Cut to a meadow. LEO, EMMA, and BALAN are standing on a circle facing a wall of haphazardly put together wood boards. They start looking around. LEO looks behind him. There's a whale made of land flying by.)

Leo-Hey, look! A whale!

(EMMA runs forward.)

Emma-Stay focused, Leo. We have a job to do, remember?

(LEO turns back around. He summons the changing curtain. EMMA turns around and notices.)

Emma-Oh, yeah. I forgot that I'm a little naked right now.

Balan-Allow me to fix that.

(He tosses a key to EMMA. EMMA sees the costume diamond between the two fans on the ground. She puts the key in the diamond. She is now wearing the Soaring Sheep costume.)

Balan-This one is the Soaring Sheep!

Emma-The Soaring Sheep...

Balan-This costume lets you float in midair. You can even ride on gusts of wind!

Emma-Well, let's test it out.

(She jumps into one of the fans. The costume puffs up as she floats into the air.)

Emma-Oh, this is cool.

(LEO emerges from the changing curtain wearing the Floaty Flower costume.)

Leo-It took me a while to pick one, but I'm finally ready!

(He sees EMMA in her floaty form and snickers.)

Emma-Stop.

(She floats out of the wind and lands on the ground. They walk towards the arch in the wall. They see a giant illusion of HAOYU CHANG in the distance on the other side of the arch.)
