Balan Wonderworld Goes to Hell

Episode Eight: The Farmer Whose Work Vanished in a Night

(Start on the Isle of Tims. ATTILIO is still sitting by door number 6 looking forlorn. BALAN stands by door number 1 looking annoyed. LEO and EMMA sit in the flower patch looking confused.)

Leo-What's going on?

Emma-I guess they're going through some stuff right now.

Leo-I mean, Attilio, I get because of the whole "girlfriend is actually 10" thing, but Balan, he's usually the one rushing us through the nearest door.

Emma-Well, if you're so curious, why don't you go up and ask him?

(LEO stands up and walks over to BALAN.)

Leo-Hey, Balan. What's up?

(BALAN sighs.)

Balan-I have been staring at this door for almost two years now, watched as it's done nothing but taunt me, telling me, "You're no good, Balan. You're never going to rescue Jose from the depths of his despair. I'm going to stay here forever."

Emma-Two years?

(She gets up.)

Emma-That's a long time.

Balan-The longest anyone's ever stayed, and I have no doubt Lance has to do with it. He's probably going to be the most stubborn.

Emma-We still have to try, right? We can't let him stay forever.

Balan-Yeah. Rescuing his heart is so big of a task that I considered pushing it to the end because I was so scared, but I had to judge it fairly and place it based on its severity.

(He steps forward.)

Balan-Let's not put it off any longer.

(He walks through the door, followed by EMMA and LEO. Opening theme. Cut to a farm with a field of corn and a barn. LEO, EMMA, and BALAN are standing on a circle just outside the gate. They watch as the ground collapses around them. The barn sinks into the ground, and a castle rises up in its place.)

Leo-Is this what you meant by the terrain becoming hostile?

(BALAN nods.)

Balan-Yes.

(He summons the changing curtain.)

Balan-First, let's put on some–

(They notice that the changing curtain is empty.)

Balan-Where are my costumes? Where are–where are my costumes? Don't tell me Lance stole them all! Do you have any idea how long it takes to make 80 different costumes, each with its own specific ability?

Emma-What about Air Cat, Air Unicorn, and Frost Fairy?

(BALAN puts away the changing curtain.)

Balan-There must be some costumes lying around. Let's go find them.

(They begin walking down the path. A giant illusion of JOSE GALLARD appears over the horizon. BALAN sneers at it.)

Illusion-Hi!

(It disappears as they approach it.)

Balan-I am not looking forward to this. That Jose Gallard has been a thorn in my side for years.

(They find a costume diamond sitting on a stone platform.)

Emma-Costume!

Balan-Wait, really?

(He searches through his coat for a key and throws it to EMMA.)

Balan-Go get it!

(EMMA catches the key and puts it in the diamond. She is now wearing the Tornado Wolf costume.)
