That day at lunch, I found Jake before he sat down and talked with him at our own table. He didn't look like he wanted to talk to me, but I was desperate to ask him out.

"Hey, Cameron told me what really happened between you and your ex-girlfriend. I am very sorry about how I reacted," I explained.

"You didn't know," he replied.

"I didn't, but I should have listened to what you had to say. I'm sorry," I apologized.

He smiled back, "Its fine."

I remembered the fight he had with Rachel that morning and asked, "What happened between you and Rachel; why did you brake up with her?"

"Oh," he started with a frown, "She isn't as nice as you think she is. I found that out myself. I had to brake up with her."

At this, I knew he was lying, and exclaimed, "You are such a liar!" and left the cafeteria. I knew what I said was true and that he was lying; Rachel is the nicest girl in school and I would know after talking to her that morning.

The next day, the unexpected happened. I didn't see it coming. He surprised me as well as Jake and the rest of the grade!

Cameron asked me out during lunch. I was shocked. I didn't know he felt that way about me. That was very much unexpected, but I was desperate to get Jake off my mind, so I told him that I would meet him Friday night at my favorite pizza place, called the "Pizza Palace"

I got to the Pizza Palace early and got us a table by a window with a beautiful view of the woods next to the restaurant.

No businesses were there, so it was just a piece of land still filled with trees and wildlife. It was the only woods in our city. I love wildlife, so I always had treasured that field. My dream had always been to save the wildlife; I have experienced first hand people tearing down wildlife to build new houses and buildings.

When Cameron got there, I was still staring out the window watching the wildlife. He sat down and got my attention by starting to talk, "Isn't it beautiful? I didn't know you where an animal lover."

I didn't see him there, so he startled me when he started talking. I looked at him and realized that he was enjoying the view as well.

"Yeah, I love animals," I replied.

He smiled at me and asked, "How much do we have in common? I love animals, too! When I come here, this is my favorite spot. I like to sit and watch the wildlife."

From that moment, I realized that I had more in common with Cameron than I did with Jake. Jake was just a jerk and I was just too blinded by love to realize that I should have gone out with Cameron instead of Jake. I had been crushing on the wrong guy! I finally got over Jake and was ready for a new relationship.

Cameron and I clicked instantly; we seemed perfect for each other. I wasn't the only one who saw that; Cameron, my new best friend, Rachel, and my other best friend all saw that. He was the best boyfriend I had ever had. He was kind and respectful not only to me, but to nature. Through all that had happened that year, I forgot about the beauty of nature, but Cameron reminded me of it all.

We shared a pizza and learned that we had a lot in common and from then on, we were officially dating. The next week, I found out that Jake was now jealous of me dating Cameron. Jake has lots of friends in high places, so if you made him mad, it was like you made the whole school mad.

He caught me on the way to Homeroom with a group of his friends. I tried to avoid them, but the blocked my path and surrounded me.

Jake looked me and asked enviously, "What does Cameron have that I don't? We had fun together! Why did you start dating Cameron instead of getting back with me?"
