"THE CHANGE IN OUR FAMILIES.."
---¤𖠁¤---
Slowly worming his pinky finger towards her, she's aware of it, but she doesn't dare to move away or closer to him. Linking their pinky fingers together, his face flushes a bright red, her heart pounding frantically in her chest. The pair don't speak, just quietly hold each other's hands⎯a comfort that made some of the pain at ease. The day had been a horrid one from sunrise all the way to sunset. From burying Laena as the sun rose to Aemond now losing an eye in the shadows of night.
Picking at her bottom lip with her teeth, she stares into the fireplace, watching as the flames crackle and pop. If she stared long enough, she swore she could see figures dancing gracefully across the burning logs. Then floating along with the ambers. Resting her head against her chair, her fingers unintentionally twitch, the pain in her hand shooting up her spine. She wanted to make it stop, but her injured hand just kept twitching. Perhaps, that was what Master Mellos was trying to warn her about.
"Do you think you'll be able to ride soon?" Aemond questions, breaking the silence.
"No, I can't really close my hand. So, I won't be able to grab onto the reins." She shakes her head softly, "It wouldn't be wise to ride with one hand. So, I will have to wait."
"I am sorry. But, I hope to ride Vhagar soon."
"I hope to see Mor'du, even if it means I cannot ride." She smiles softly, "Just seeing him is enough for me until I heal."
Leaning her head against the chair, a small yawn escapes her lips, her eyes dropping from exhaustion. Perhaps, she should go back to bed. Hearing the chamber door creak open, Alicent walks in, a grave look on her face. One that makes concern brew in her stomach. What was it now? Hadn't enough happened tonight? Haven't they mourned enough? Opening her mouth to speak, Alicent glances at the two of them, a shocked look on her face making her flush.
Shit! She was still holding Aemond's hand! Pulling her hand away, she could feel the sadness radiating off of Aemond. Did she feel guilty? Yes, but what mattered was she had been holding hands with a boy! In his chambers! Alone! Standing up from her seat, she bows her head shamefully, hoping that the anger from earlier was gone from Alicent. She did not want to be cut too. Nor did she want to cause anymore problems with the families.
"You⎯Aemond, what is she doing here?" Alicent questions, blinking away the shock in her eyes.
"I want her here." Aemond states, his voice harsh.
"Aemond, tt's improper for a girl to⎯" Alicent cuts herself off, "Okay, fine. Just, please behave. Both of you, we have had enough trouble tonight. I do⎯I cannot bare it anymore."
"Yes, your majesty." She nods.
"We will." Aemond nods, reaching over to hold Jocelyn's hand again.
Her cheek burns a bright red from embarrassment as he pulls her towards him unashamedly, his good eye staring at her intently. Chewing on her bottom lip, she slowly lifts her head up, meeting Alicent's eyes once again. She wanted to make sure that she didn't do anything wrong. She wanted to not bring shame to her House. To make her hate her parents.
