Chapter
3
I saw a beautiful woman. She looked familiar, very familiar. She was holding a small bundle in her hands. A baby. She appeared to be running away from something.
Then the scenery suddenly shifted. I saw the same beautiful women empty handed. She looked happy. She reached towards me and brushed my hair out of my face. She had a motherly air about her as she smiled at me. I loved you, I said. She pulled me in an embrace and said I love you too; you are my baby. My precious baby.
My dream yet again shifted. I was in a forest, running from something. I saw a light and two figures emerged from the light. The woman and...Didier?
Faster Calantha. He called.
Hurry. The woman echoed.
I wanted to hurry. I wanted to join them. Whatever was chasing me, I didn't like it. they both extended their hand to me, but as I reach for them some force pulled me back.
Calantha, they both cried.
In the dream i screamed.
I woke up, panting and gasping. I found myself staring at a pair of very dark brown eyes, identical to mine.
"Calantha, are you okay?" concern lingered in his eyes and something else. Something unreadable.
I sat up slowly. "Dad." But before I could I uttered another word, he pushed me down gently.
"You're still not feeling well. You should lay still."
"No, I'm well enough to sit." Again, I sat up.
"Who's Didier?" he asked, his voice was gently, but his eyes were hard.
"Who?"
"You were screaming."
"He...he is one of my classmate. A Baroque."
"Does he know?"
I wasn't sure if I should tell him but I decided on the truth. After all, it was practically impossible to hold anything from my dad..
"Yes. He knows." With my head in my hand, I dug my grave a little deeper. "He's spoken to me telepathically."
There was a heavy silence in the room, and I could almost hear the thoughts running through his mind.
"What was your dream about just now?"
"I'm not sure. It was hard to understand. I dreamed about this woman I've never seen before but it felt as though I knew her. dark skin, dark hair with blue markings on her face. The same blue markings run down her arms too."
He cleared his throat and deliberately changed the subject.
"Are you hungry?" he asked as he eased on his feet.
I had to think about it. I picture myself eating and I didn't feel like I was going to throw up, so I said yes. In fact, my stomach felt empty, so empty it felt hollow inside.
"How long was I out?"4
"Three hours."
Three hours? What exactly happen to me? Then as if reading my mind dad asked,
"What happen?"
"I don't know. First, there was a noise in my ears, you know, like the type of noise when someone deliberately scraped their nails across a glass to make a cover-your-ears noise. Only, it was inside my head then after that, everything went dark.
