"what do you mean you got into a fight?" jaemin was stern with his question, not liking the idea of the younger picking fights, especially with his medical condition.

"i'm fine...uhh chenle cleaned me up pretty nicely," jisung answered. it was good to know that jisung had someone his age hanging around him but this wasn't quite reassuring not when the latter recently came out of the hospital. "and i'm currently by his house. i didn't go back home yesterday, and yes, i told johnny and doyoung."

well, at least the boy knew not to make his family worry about him, though, jaemin was still a tad bit upset about the other taking a whole day to tell him. Yet he understood that jisung was nothing more than a teenager trying to figure out how to simply get by. "well, i appreciate you telling me this."

jisung hummed over the phone, nervous that his older brother still sounded upset until jaemin said, "you and that chenle kid are hanging out a lot, huh?" that most definitely caught jisung off guard and had the boy rolling his eyes.

"i'm leaving now, bye, love you."

jaemin chuckled as he sweetly replied, "love you too!"

"the kid okay?" jaemin heard a voice enter the room with him. it startled him a bit, but his core tightened as the familiar cologne filled the air around him.

"yeah," jaemin turned to face jeno. "teenagers, i guess."
jeno chuckled, keeping that friendly smile on his face as if nothing bad in the world had ever happened to him. jaemin wanted to be like that...he wanted to be carefree.

"what's up?" jeno titled his head. he must've been staring too long.

"i'm thinking of joining a sport," the boy blurted out.

"a sport?"

jaemin cleared his throat. clearly he didn't think about his words but it was much better than feeling the embarrassment of getting caught staring. "yeah. donghyuck joined the cheerleading team so i'm kinda wondering if i should actually get the full college experience."

"you should join swimming," jeno shrugged, letting his legs guide him to the long black sofa. jaemin took a moment to examine the other. his hair was messy and his breathing seemed irregular, but then his eyes trailed down to the basketball shorts that hung loosely around jeno's waist.
"swimming?" jaemin leaned on the white countertop. he was trying his best to focus on the conversation, but having a 5'10 football player sitting across the room as attractive as lee jeno would really distract all genders.

"yup. you've got the chest for it." jaemin cheeks blushed at the comment, sending his thoughts haywire because that could only mean that jeno watched the younger just as much as he'd watch him. "you've also got the arm muscles, doll," jeno continued to say.

"a new nickname now?" jaemin rolled his eyes.

jeno smirked, spreading his thighs a bit more on the chair to fix himself into a more comfortable position. "what? don't tell me you only prefer 'sweetheart'?"

"i prefer none."

a lie. that was the deepest lie jaemin could ever say because anything that came from jeno was loved by the younger. lee jeno was the embodiment of his fixation on normality. "yeah?" the older's laugh caused the hairs on jaemin's arms to erect immediately as if the air was chilly. "sit next to me?"
