SOUL being awake and in a much better state after these passed few days, you decided to help out with Black Star's reading and a little on his training, you knew he could do that part on his own. This time, the assassin was being punished.
"Well, I'm here...what am I supposed to do now?" He looked around the library, standing in front of you. Sid had his hands on his hips. "Clean, put the library back in order." The place was a whole mess of books, people being too sluggish to put them back so now Black Star has to deal with the problem.
"Huh? No way, not me!" The boy wasn't going to do it, that's exactly why he brought you here, in case it didn't work out, you were simply plan B. "Listen, you brat, on the last extra colloquium lesson you didn't collect a single soul."
Not paying attention to their conversation as you held a book, finding it quite interesting, you tuned their voices out. The grown man arguing with the child, Sid groaned after telling the blue-haired boy he was holding Tsubaki back. It was a true statement.
"[Y/n], help me out here?" He pleaded, getting frustrated-if he had a brain? You stared down at your student. "Black Star, he's right. If you do this, Tsubaki and me will be proud of you, I'm sure there's something to gain from it." Thinking about it, he shifted his feet. "Fine, no tutoring today, right?" Nodding, he let out a small "yes!" Under his breath.
Sid frowned and turned to you. "How come he always listens to you?" You were confused too, never would've guessed you can talk down to kids like this, considering how much you disliked them.
Sid leaving him alone to clean up, you stayed behind to watch over. A few minutes passed, Black Star was reading a comic while sitting down on top of books, laughing loudly with his legs swinging back and forth. You were reading silently on your own, even with the kept "silence," it felt enjoyable to accompany him.
Kid suddenly showed up, greeting you, the raven was searching for a book that was below your other student's butt. Your finger twitched once you heard Kid explained who or what the "mighty" sword was.
You could say it brought you back memories.
"Oh, you mean Excalibur, huh?" A maintained voice spoke, Stein was standing beside the emo boy. He asked if he knew what the powerful weapon was. "You sure it's a good idea to tell them?" You mumbled, keeping your eyes down, not wanting to glance at the book you despised.
It was a phase for some teachers in the academy who went through it before.
Including you.
The two boys getting more curious, the stitched-up teacher thought about it. "It was too much, even for me and [Y/n]." Was all he said, earning them to be deeply invested. They can never come back from this again. As you predicted, they immediately left to find the sword. You hoped Black Star wouldn't try to kill anyone during that time.
Hearing Stein walking over to you, twisting the screw inside his head.
"History sure does repeat itself."
You shook your head, "this is gonna be your fault you know." He shrugged his shoulders, not caring. He remembered way back when the two of you did the same thing.
"Whoa...Stein, check this out."
A small version of you waved a book in hand, the title being 'Excalibur' after you had to do a project for an assignment. You went to the library, along with your partner in crime who wanted to help you out. You were much younger, smaller too, with shorter hair and no dark circles under your eyes, baggy clothes you had always worn.
The teen popped out from behind a bookshelf, walking towards you to look over your shoulder.
"What is it?" You smirked, putting the book right in his face, eyes gleaming with excitement.
"There's a sword, it says here that-" explaining it while struggling to read the bigger words, the grey-haired boy waited patiently for you to finish, used to your studders. He had a hunch there was something off about the book. You were ignorant as a child, more as a teenager.
"Let's go check it out," you suggested, seeing him tilt his head. "What about the project?" You shrugged. "Eh, you could do it for me. I'll let you switch my toes?" The boy smirked with an eyebrow quirked up. He liked the idea.
"Fine."
"Just my toes or else I'll be mad at you." Stein chuckled and followed you out of the library with the book in your hand, not wanting to lose it or replace it anywhere.
"Never..." He whispered, not noticing the softness in his voice.
The doctor glanced down at your finger and other places that were stitched up, seeing them caused his lips to twitch upwards as Stein felt desperate to place one more on your body.
