Jimin didn't think it would rain this badly when he planned to go out for a run.
It's been days since he had shifted into his wolf form and jimin could feel the ache in his muscles, the need to shift into his animal counterpart eating away at his head.
His mother did warn him of the bad weather but he gave no thought to her words, in turn looking forward to getting drenched in the drizzle.
But to his dismay what greeted him was a heavy storm, the thunder rumbling in the distance managing to increase the tempo of his heart.
He isn't afraid of lightning per se, not until he was seven years old.
He had sneaked out unbeknownst to his parents to wander into the woods behind his childhood home to play in the rain and that was the first time he ever felt free.
Too young to present, hence no wolf to guide him and too naive to understand the world were the two things that led to his downfall that day.
A nine year old jimin at the time was completely unaware of the danger lurking in the woods. In fact he had never heeded to any of his father's scoldings or his mother's pleadings every time he ventured out into the woods, a world unknown for a small pup like him.
He mistook the pitter patter of the rain as his privilege, happy to be away from his controlling parents (not really cause jimin understood how his father and mother was only looking out for him) even if it's for a short time, padded feet splashing the muddy water on the ground, his giggles too loud in the wilderness that surrounded him.
A sharp growl that cut unmistakably through the heavy pelting of the rain had made his heart seize up in fear and nothing prepared a young jimin at the time to the monster in front of him.
It was a wolf so big and sturdy unlike anyone he's ever seen ( he never really saw a wolf this close) teeth bared and growling at him who stood defenceless with nothing to protect himself.
How did he knew the wolf was going to hurt him at the time was beyond him (apparently some wolf with blood smeared on its snout and paws with its claws out didn't came for a friendly chat, he knew as much) and jimin never spent too much time on wondering about it because a shudder wracks his body no matter the years that passed since that day.
The beast's eyes had a funny glint to it, which jimin later learns is absolute madness, easily distinctive from the predatory gaze locked on him with a single minded intensity and jimin trembled like a leaf, limbs frozen in place.
Jimin thought his flight or fight response was something designed to save him from danger and not a thing to get him killed.
Luck really wasn't at his side that day.
To make everything worse, the wind had picked up speed, the downpour getting so bad by the minute that it made the trees around him swirl and snap. It also means it made it difficult for anyone to hear his voice if he tried screaming.
But jimin still hoped for the best, still thought he could maybe make a run and save his ass from the wolf snarling at him.
His limbs finally unfreeze after he came to the decision to make a dash for his life.
But like he said earlier, luck really wasn't his forte.
As to make everything worse, lightning had struck down on the tree just behind him, setting it instantly on fire, the roaring so wild and loud that has jimin sink down to the wet forest ground on his knees with both hands cupping his ears.
