"i already told you colby, i don't want to" i let out a sigh
"come on dude, we'll have fun and you know it" colby says whiningly
"I'm gonna feel left out at midnight. everyone is gonna have someone to you know-" i say and get cut off
"kiss?" colby smirks and says when he cuts me off
"yea. since I've been without a girlfriend for a couple months" i say trying not to remember the break up.
"dude, it'll be okay. plus, if you wanna leave at any time we can leave" colby says with a small smile. i try to hold in my smile as he smiles but its almost impossible
"fine" i say agreeingly but still annoyed, but not for too long because colby gets excited and its kinda cute.
"wait... sam do not tell me you're falling for your best friend" i think to myself and shake my head trying to relieve myself from the thought.
(a couple hours later)
"YOU READY YET?!" i hear colby yell up to me
"yea, i guess" i say as i walk down the stairs
i watch as colby grabs his keys off the counter and we walk out to the car
(they arrive at the new years party)
me and colby walk in together but colby almost immediately gets pulled away from me because a group of girls drag him over to them.
i walk into the kitchen with colby no longer by my side and grab a drink. i take a sip before walking into a mostly empty hallway, and by mostly empty i mean there's like a couple or two making out. i didn't really pay attention. i sit there and fumble with my rings while i look over at like 4 girls touching colby.
"sam are you jealous?" i think to myself again. no, there's no way I'm jealous. he's just my best friend and that's all i think of him as. right..?
"OKAY EVERYONE TO THE LIVING ROOM. THERES ONLY 5 MINUTES UNTIL MIDNIGHT" i hear someone yell. not wanting too, i walk into the living room and stand in a spot no one is really at.
i look at the countdown and there's 3 minutes remaining till midnight. i look back at where colby was and hes not there anymore. i sigh and just think that one of the girls pulled him away and they're now making out somewhere.
{colbys POV}
"damn it where is he" i whisper to myself hoping no one can hear me
"IM GONNA GO OVER THERE" i point as i yell to the 4 girls around me. they keep touching me as i walk away from them.
i roll my eyes and sigh once I'm far enough away from them. shit.. only a minute until midnight, i really need to find sam.
i walk around the living room looking everywhere before i notice him standing by a wall.
"10, 9-" i hear someone counting down
"shit" i think to myself before noticing sam and running to him, pushing through people in the process.
i take the drink out of his hand and set it on a nearby table.
"just trust me okay?" i say looking sam in the eyes
"colby wh-" he says before i put my hands on his face and push him against the wall gently and kiss him cutting him off as the countdown hits midnight.
i can feel him lean into the kiss which makes me feel better about this knowing he wants it too, he puts his hands on my lower back as we kiss for at least a minute.
with my hands still on his face we pull away and our foreheads and noses are touching. i look at him in his eyes and smile
"w-woah..." he says softly and smiles.
i kiss him quickly and softly again.
"is this the whole reason you wanted me to come with you to this party?" he says while laughing a little
"mostly" i say while laughing back.
