The water is my life. It's like a.. Safe haven. I used to hate anything to do with the water, yes, that much is true.

But being "re-born", I guess you would call it, changes the way you think about everything.

Take blood for example, In a human's eyes, the site and smell of blood is almost repulsive. To a vampire, my kind, it's the most amazing, mouth-watering smell you could come accross.

Just like water,

I used to hate it, getting the sand in your hair, in your clothes. The sun beating down, burning you, well my un-naturally pale skin. The gallons of water you accidently swallow as the waves wash you in.

But after the big change, it all changed. You just can't keep me out of the water. I love the feeling of water brushing against my hand, and the smell of it. It's like my ecstasy.

It does bring back painful memories though, from right before I was changed.

I was in the water, it was a dark, merky colour because of the time of day it was, 6pm. I don't know why I was in there, I just was.

I stood shoulder deep in the water, barely able to keep my head above water.

A pair of hands snaked around my waist. I gasped but was not as afraid as I should have been.

"Who is that?" My voice was probaly barely able to hear by a human pair of ears. But not a vampire's

A deep husky voice told me to hush, he told me that what he was about to do would hurt only for a second. I was confused as the male standing behind me brushed my long flowy brown hair to one side of my neck. A pair of dry, puckered lips touched the bare skin on my neck, and without warning I was dragged underwater.

I struggled, pushed and shoved, but I could not get back up to surface.

I thought all was going to end, I even had one of those flashback type things, you know one of those thing people always assume you get when you're about to die? I had that. But in a second, A sharp pain shot through my body from my neck down.

I tried to scream but all I did was swallow mass amounts of water. Then everything went dark.

When I awoke, everything felt different. I didn't know where I was, I didn't even know who I was anymore.

I noticed A male was sitting beside me when I looked around.

"Who are you?"

The man didn't reply.

He grabbed my arm and pulled me off the little couch I had been laying just a moment ago. He led me to a mirror, it was big and wide, filled up a whole wall. I was made to look at myself. My features were.. Aesthetic. I had bright, red lips. Long, brown hair, now with sandy yellow streakes, I had on a striking, aqua coloured dress. My skin was pale white, and Ice cold. I didn't understand anything. But there was one thing I was sure of, I was not human. But what was I?

"What's going on?" I asked after I gazed at myself for a minute longer.

He smiled slightly, "I can't tell you" He said that the only person who was allowed to explain it was, Calder. He said that Calder is the 'Sire' of our "clan" and What he says go's.

I agreed to go with this man to see Calder, maybe Everything he's been saying will make some sort of sense.

He took me to an abandoned warehouse type thing. For some reason, on the way there he had put something in my nose, I couldn't smell anything.

When we walked inside, there was an assemble of people standing around. One man stood out most to me, he wore a long, royal purple robe and had One big braid right through the middle of his head, and the remaining space on his head was left bald. He was strikingly beautiful though. Actually now that I come to think of it, the man who brought me here was also unbelievably beautiful. And as I looked around at the group of people, they were all, also, quite pleasing to look at. My eyes met the eyes of one man, he stood alone, away from the others. He stared straight at me, I felt he was boring holes into my eyes. Our little moment was interrupted by the man in the purple robe

"Ahh..Muiel..seems you've lived up to your name. You have done me well, this past week. You may step aside.

The man who had brought me here, Muiel I'm guessing, nodded his head slightly and let go of my arm. My eyes followed him, he walked to a woman who had strikingly bright green hair, they embraced for a moment and regained position, facing the man.

The man in the robe turned back to me, I'm guessing he was Calder. "The Sire" .

"Welcome, Nerina"

I looked around the room bemused. He was looking straight at me, yet my name is not Nerina. Actually, I don't know my real name, but I'm pretty sure it's not Nerina.

Calder, who made us all call him "Sire" explained everything to me. He explained that we are 'vampires' . I thought it was ridiculous until he had everybody in the room show me their gifts. Muiel had the power of persuasion, he could persuade anyone, anything, to do what he wanted, when he wanted. He didn't even have to touch them or speak to them, it was a mind control thing. One of the girls, who I had come to know as Coral, had the power of camoflage, i liked that one. Zale, who was the man I had just made eye contact with just before, had the power of illusions. Therefore making him an illusionist. He could make something look like something else, just by thinking of it. Calder informed me that these powers had not been seen amongst any normal vampire. He told me what we were, how we are different from normal, blood-drinking vampires. We're sea-dwellers. We live and breath the ocean. Shortly after Calder explained it to me, I felt a sudden urge to swim.

It felt so strong, like someone was pulling me.

"Zale," Calder spoke and Zale's head turned to face him. "Take Nerina, she needs to swim.. And hunt"

Huh? Hunt? What does that mean?

Zale noticed the baffled look of my face, he shook his head and grabbed my arm, pulling me away from the warehouse. We ran, to some cliffs. It was amazing, feeling the breeze in my hair I mean. I had never ran so fast in my life. As we reached the cliffs, I jolted to a short stop.

But Zale continued and flew off the edge of the cliffs.

I looked down for a minute, scared of what may have happened to him.

Until his head popped up out of the water. He gestured, with his head, for me to follow him and he disappeared back into the water. I was confused, but I felt a pull, so I jumped in with him.
