He walks, his footsteps thudding against the darkening concrete. His clothes feel slightly heavy as they dampen. The smell of the rain is so strong, he doubts he would be able to smell anything else for a few days.

It's pretty dark for the start of the afternoon. The gray clouds are to thank for that. If it was any other day, he would somewhat enjoy the way the clouds look, but not today.

He looks straight ahead, just wanting to get home as soon as possible. There is no one around, probably because of the weather, so it's sort of strange to see someone else walking.

The person is ahead of him, walking at a normal pace. It's the way the person walks that makes Katsuki take a second look. It almost looks like they are floating, but he's too far away to tell. He walks slightly faster, curious.

The person gets to the curve of the sidewalk, and that's when Katsuki stops. The person is wearing the same black uniform Katsuki owns and the shoes...

Are bright red.

His heart speeds up and he clenches his fist on reflex, his eyes widening. The person turns the corner and disappears from his view.

"Deku...?"

It barely registers to his own ears even though it came from his mouth, a sound so weak and pathetic he doesn't want to believe it was him who sounded like that.

He doesn't give himself time to think about it anymore because Deku's arm is disappearing from sight, and he has to see him.

He kicks into a sprint, the water splashing loudly as he steps into puddles. They splash on his pants, but he doesn't care. He runs, not stopping fast enough as he turns the corner. His shoulder crashes against the brick wall separating the sidewalk and someone's home.

But even still, his red eyes are staring in front of him, darting from one place to another.

"Deku!"

He yells out, but he still doesn't stop walking. Despite still going at the same pace, he can fucking swear he's getting further and further away. The streetlight turns red, reflecting off of the puddles in the road.

A car passes, splashing even more rain in its wake. Its beams land on Katsuki and he watches as the light finds Deku. The light shines onto the wall behind him and he continues to walk. it's easier to see him, even if it was for a moment.

Dark green curls turn the corner yet again.

"Deku! Fucking stop!"

He sprints again, his breathing heavy, struggling to catch his breath with his heart beating so fast he feels like he's going to die. The rain rings in his ears and he turns the other corner, this time not bothering to slow down.

He's gone.

The sidewalk is empty, no one else around. He feels his heart drop, his knees growing slightly weak as he catches his breath. His red eyes stare blankly.

Of course, he isn't here.

He lets out another weak sound, something bordering on a yell and a cry, ready to drop then and there. He hears the distinct sound of swings, the screeching of chains against metal.

He turns his head, and the playground feels like its staring back. He can see the chain of the swing moving forward and back but can't see the person swinging because the slide obstructing his view.

The plastic makes the rain drops cling to it, the colorful equipment making a wave of nostalgia hit him.

"Come on Izu, hurry up!"

"K-Kacchan! Wait, I'm going as fast as i can!"

"If you don't hurry, I'm not gonna push you on the swings anymore!"

"Kacchan! You can't do that, no fair!"

Katsuki looks at the crosswalk. A blonde reaches for the crossing button, onto the tips of his toes as a green haired boy stands nervously next to him. He presses it and it beeps only to get properly on his feet and hold the green boy's head.

"It is fair Izu, you made me wait forever!"

The green haired boy looks down and the blonde pulls him onto the crosswalk, looking both ways and quickly moving across the street together.

Katsuki presses the button and crosses the street, going towards the playground. The woodchips are damp, the smell of them pricking his nose. They shift under his shoes, and he walks closer to the swings.

He sees him, swinging back and forth slowly, his feet barely leaving the ground as he moves. The swing continues to creak as Katsuki stands there, his feet rooted. There is the sound of two children laughing behind him.

"Izu, watch this!"

"Woah! Kacchan, your so cool!"

"I know i am! Now you try!"

the children play at the park, jumping around and laughing. Deku is unbothered, not even pausing his swinging or looking back at him.

His uniform looks clean and proper from the back, in perfect condition. As if it's just another day after school.

"Come on, I'm gonna push you on the swing now!"

"Ok! But don't go too high, ok?"

"Who the hell do you think i am Izu?! don't be scared, it won't be the same as last time!"

"Thats what you said the time before kacchan..."

He takes a step, and the two children pass him, going to the other swing. The blonde pushes the green haired boy forward with a grin.

"Yeah, well this time is different!"

The green haired boy looks at him, his brows furrowed in worry. He gets onto the swing anyway, his small back now facing Katsuki as he stands to watch, eyes hazy.

"Ok..."

The blonde begins to push, his pace matching Deku's. The green haired boy laughs, seeming to have a good time. Katsuki steps closer, his hands reaching out to touch Deku's back.

The blonde, without any warning, begins to push harder, sending the boy higher. His small hands grip the chains of the swing, and he lets out a yell as his feet go far from the ground.

"K-Kacchan!! It's too high! I'm scared! Stop It now!"

The blonde just laughs, continuing.

"Grow up Izu, it's not that bad!"

The little boy's screams get more panicked, and Katsuki doesn't have to see his face to know he's crying now. His hands inch closer to Dekus back, still at the same pace as before.

"Kacchan no I'm really really scared! St-!"

His screams are cut off, the boy falling off of the swing so far Katsuki can't do anything but watch. He plummets to the ground with a sickening sound. Katsuki and the blonde's eyes widen, red and bright.

Deku stops swinging slowly as the little boy stays on the ground, his limps twisted sickeningly.

"Iz-"

"eku?"

The swing continues to creak, and slowly, Deku comes to a stop, his feet now planted firmly into the woodchips.

"That... really hurt Kacchan..."

He looks at Deku, who finally turns around to face him. Katsuki feels like he's going to throw up, his saliva turning sour.

Izuku Midoriya's uniform is covered in blood, dried but still so vibrant. His eyes are open, a pale green. There is blood matted in his hair and when the smell hits him, he gags.

"I hit the ground... and it really... really hurt."
