Teresa and I were walking around the mall. I'd finished my resume and handed it out to a couple of stores that had "help wanted" signs. There were only a few of them. I think I managed to give out 2 copies.
"Why's no one hiring in this place?" I grumbled, frustrated.
"Yeah, sucks. Why don't we go check out Sephora?" Teresa asked, excitedly moving in that direction, but I held her back by the hand.
"We have to stay focused. You said you'd help me, and all you've done is wander around looking at stores."
"Ugh, this is hell. Okay, fine, but we've been at this for hours. Can we at least take a break... in Sephora?"
"Fine," I relented. We walked into Sephora, with makeup lining the walls and customers quietly browsing with bags from other stores in hand.
"What did you want so badly, anyway?"
"I need a new eyeshadow palette. Mine's old and crusty, and I'm tired of using my tiny brush to get the product out."
"Alright, where's the aisle?"
"Over here," Teresa said, pulling me towards the aisle. She then got a little carried away with the makeup, dragging me around to look at skincare, eyeshadows, blush, contour kits, and more that I couldn't even name.
"Excuse me," a woman's voice pulled my attention. I turned to see a woman with dark skin, a golden nose cuff, plump lips, and a stylish black girl's bob.
"Yes?" I looked up at her, towering over me.
"You dropped this." She handed me one of my resumes that I must have dropped.
"Oh, thank you." I reached out for it, and she started reading it.
"Why don't you just work here?"
"What?"
"You have experience working in these types of places, so why not work here?"
"Are you hiring me?"
"Yeah."
"Oh my God, thank you. When should I come in?"
"Tomorrow at 3:00."
"Thank you." I was overwhelmed.
"No problem." She took my resume and left.
"Told you all we needed to do was go to Sephora," Teresa said, startling me, as I had forgotten she was there.
"Don't scare me like that."

Afterwards, Teresa and I wandered the mall, exploring stores I hadn't heard of. I waited for Teresa to find what she wanted, but she ended up pushing me to buy more clothes than I needed. It did lift my mood, though.
"So, did you talk to Scott after the other day?" Teresa asked.
"No," I replied curtly, not wanting to discuss it.
