Dimitri's POV

As I sat at my desk, typing an email I'd been meaning to send, my phone suddenly began to ring. Without checking the caller ID, I answered and put it on speaker.

"Hello?"

"Hi, long time no talk," Vivica Marcel's melodic voice greeted me, her faint French accent coloring each word.

"Yeah, it has been a while," I replied, adjusting myself in my seat and abandoning my email, focusing entirely on the call. "What do I owe the pleasure?"

"I just missed your company after the gala, and I thought it was a shame that we were practically apart the whole time when you were my date."

I smirked, sensing her underlying message. "Yeah, it was a shame."

"That's why I was wondering if you'd want to go on an outing, just the two of us."

I paused. I knew where she was headed, but I didn't anticipate her straightforwardness. Vivica was direct, more so than most women I'd encountered, and she's undeniably beautiful—one of the most gorgeous women in the world right now—but the idea of an outing with her sounded almost dull.

I bet she's a lovely woman with a personality that matches, and she's wealthy, so I can be certain she's not after my money. The issue is that she doesn't ignite any excitement in me. I took the call off speaker and pressed my phone to my ear, sitting back in my chair.

"V, thank you for the invitation, but I've been extremely busy. Maybe we can think of something later, but not in the near future."

"Oh, vraiment? Est-ce que c'est vous qui jouez à la tête pour obtenir? Parce que si c'est le cas, je suis intrigué." (Oh really? Is this you playing hard to get? Because if so, I'm intrigued), she teased.

"Non, mais quand ai-je été moins intrigant?" (No, but when have I been anything less than intriguing?) I flirted back, not because I was interested but mostly to engage in her game. She'd eventually grow bored waiting for me and move on to her next guy, as she always does. Vivica giggled; the sound sweet and feminine even through the phone. I felt my phone buzz in my hand, so I decided to look at the caller ID, seeing that it was Zane.

"V, I'll call you later, ok?"

"Alright, bye." I then picked up Zane's call.

"What's up?"

"Hey man, I have a favor to ask." I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Ok, what is it?"

"So me and Yasmin were checking out a venue for the wedding, and when we were there, she forgot her bracelet."

"Bracelet," I said, confused and exasperated.

"Yeah."

"How could she forget it?"
