I know it's been a long time and the story was on hold but I just didn't have it in me to write well for a while but I'm back now and I have a few more chapters after this one already typed up, so without further ado....
Tay POV
“Louis, this is absolutely wonderful!” I cry quietly, approaching the clearing that Louis had set up for the two of us.
We'd walked a little ways through a forest which didn't end up being as dark as it had seemed at first glance, it was on a beaten down path and the forest looked beautiful in the dimming light of the evening.
Now we're standing in the middle of a brightly lit clearing, flickering lanterns are scattered around the edges and mixed with the fading evening light it makes the place an incredibly pretty picture.
I have a sudden urge to take a picture of this moment, the freeze frame it, before anything can ruin the might. Before I can act like a total idiot and make him hate me, or before I realize that I really have no interest in him – not that I think that that's going to happen.
Of course that can't actually happen so Louis takes my hand in his a little tentatively I think and even though I'm a little surprised by the gesture – maybe I shouldn't be, this is a date, but I am – I hold firmly to his hand and let him lead me farther towards the centre of the clearing.
In the middle of the large expanse is a spread out table cloth, well actually I guess it's being used as a picnic blanket in this case so I should be calling it that. Anyway, the picnic blanket is right in the middle of the clearing with a picnic basket on top, presumably full of food.
“You like it?” he asks a little unsure, “It's sort of secluded, I didn't want to be bothered by fans but if you'd rather go somewhere else, I mean I would totally understand, for all you know I'm some horrible person and I just act nice for the press, not that I am, but I know you might think that, which would make sense, because you don't really know me all that well. If - ”
I cut off his nervous rambling trying not to laugh at him, it's actually cute that he's so nervous, makes me feel a little better that's for sure.
“Louis, I promise I love it, don't worry about any of that, I don't believe any of that stuff, after you didn't kill me that first night on the beach I trusted you. You're right about the fans, either way it doesn't matter where we go, this is about the two of us and that's all that matters right now.” I tell him squeezing his hand in a way that I hope is reassuring.
“Okay, good, I'm glad, sorry about that, I guess I'm just a little nervous.” he admits looking at the ground, probably trying to hide the slight blush creeping onto his cheeks.
I release his hand earning me a surprised and somewhat hurt look from Louis, but instead of walk on, I wrap my hands around his neck and pull him closer, trying to seem a lot more confident than I am, and force him to look right into my eyes, while I look into his, which are, at the moment, quite wide.
Snapping out of his momentary stupor he wraps his arms around my waist and gazes at me, waiting to see what I'm going to say.
“Don't worry, you're definitely not the only one.”
He stares at me as if in awe and the two of us stay like that for a moment, just staring into each others eyes, until I finally pull away and re-clasp his hand. Now, both of us calm, and trying to push away as much of our nervousness as possible, walk towards the picnic basket.
“Did you make this?” I ask in surprise, looking inside the basket lying out for us on the picnic blanket. He hesitated for a moment before answering.
