The slow beeping of the heart monitor telling us she's alive. The bruised up and broken frame of her body tell a different story.
Her heart stopped for 7 minutes. She crashed 7 times in the hospital during the first 48 hours.
After that it was a coma.
At first the doctors were certain she would wake up but after requesting a second opinion the odds of that fell to a 60%.
She has been in a coma for 6 months and the odds of her waking up are now 8%, without any brain damage 4% and the chance of complete amnesia is 96%. The odds are bad. She might as well be dead. Once she reaches 9 months we have to decide if she should come off life support or stay a vegetable.
Unfortunately that choice isn't mine. It's up to her brothers. In 3 months they will find out she is alive. I will have to tell them that we survived...
