Chapter 30; Fitz

I can't believe it. Sophie Foster is actually gone. This is all my fault... STOP. I wasn't going to let my mind break. Sophie was gone and we had to accept that.

I sighed and took a seat on my bed. I hailed all of my friends to come over, and in a matter of seconds, they were here.

Everyone had bandages on them. Biana had one across her cheek, Linh had one behind her leg, Dex had one on his arm and waist, Tam had one going up his forearm, and I had some in my legs and arms. Everyone had puffy red and bloodshot eyes.

"Let's go to my room." I said.

Everyone was silent. We couldn't let grief break us. I held Linh in my arms, as Tam cradled Biana in his. Keefe didn't respond back when I hailed him.

I cleared my throat, wanting to have some energy in the room. "Dex, what happened when you asked Marella?"

He sighed , but a small smile formed "She said yes."

We all let out little cheers and congratulated Dex, but still everyone was silent.

Mom came in with a trey of Mallowmelt. We all took two slices, but no one talked.

"Come on guys," I started, catching everyone's attention. "We just defeated the Neverseen, shouldn't we celebrate that?"

"Fitz, we just lost Sophie. Our best friend." Linh said "How could anyone be celebrating right now?"

I sighed knowing she had a point. "We can't let grief break us. Sophie wouldn't have wanted that. She would want us to move on, and live our lives."

Everyone processed that.

"I guess we could have some fun." Tam mumbled.

Biana took that the wrong way, and immediately forced all the boys to get makeovers. Linh styled us, while Biana did the make up.

We were having some fun, and making the most out of this right now. But still there was still some depression going on. I started missing Keefe's jokes.

Right then thunder cracked outside.

"That can't be her... can it?" Dex asked.

Biana shook her head "We watched her plunge into the ocean. There is no way she could have survived.

I heard whimpering, and figured that it was one of us. But the we heard someone knock on the door.

All of us shared a look, and sprinted down the stairs. We opened the door, and nearly screamed.

Sophie was leaning on the wall, dripping blood, and nearly passed out.

I noticed that there was something sticking out of her leg. There was a jagged piece of rock.

"Hey." She croaked, and passed out in my arms.
