The moon dimmed and I hummed while walking whatever path I pleased.

Gosh, what a day! It was evening, but it seemed like night-time. I walked and walked on mindless of the surroundings, soon, I found myself on a wooden bridge, staring up at the moon.

The sight of Lan Zhan then caught my eye.

He was looking handsome, as always, but under the moon, he shone like iridescent mist from the heavens above. My mouth was open and I stared at him in awe, my lip trembled a little as he noticed me and looked at me.

I breathed in a puff of air, brought myself together and decided to run towards his direction.

"Lan Zhan!!!" Before I knew it, I had fallen face-first into the ground.

"W- Wei Ying!"

"I'm okay...ow!" Stupid me then realised that my knee was cut. Shit it hurt.

"You're not okay..."

"Uff, I can get up! It's just a small cut." I tried bringing myself up, standing, but I just couldn't.

Then I looked up at Lan Zhan, he annoyingly looked at me, then in a flash of white, within a second, I was lifted up from the ground, on his back.

"Gahhhh!!! Lan Zhan!!!"

"Keep...quiet..."

I found myself flustered and obedient. Gosh, what was happening!? Lan Zhan effortlessly picked me up from the ground and...and-

Carried me on his back like I was some injured maiden...PETITE injured maiden, gosh how strong he is, or maybe I'm just not as fat as I think I am?

I scrunched my face at the thought, I SOUNDED like some petite injured maiden.

I scoffed.

Then I looked forward, we were going somewhere.

"Lan Zhan, where are we going?"

"To the person we'll have a meeting with..."

"OH! OH! That person right!" The though escaped from my mind due to all the ruckus that happened beforehand.

Delinquet Demon. Ha.

I rolled my eyes at the name. The streets felt hallow and eerie, the light from the moon illuminated the surroundings, windows were closed, taverns were still open and so were wineries. Hm, I wanted to drink now.

We came to a halt at a tavern whose insides were dimly lit. The tavern keeper almost choked at the sight before him, 'a man carrying another man as if a petite maiden,' then sheepishly smiled and escorted us to a room which was congested. But livable, after the circumstances I faced in my past life, it was more than livable. The room was wooden from walls to floor, in the middle of the room there three seats and one table. Two seats were placed side-by-side while one was placed opposite to the other two.

There was a knock on the wooden door. Lan Zhan opened the door, into the room stepped Nie Huaisang, as in, 'Mr. I don't know.'

"Hanguang-jun..." He folded his hands for formalities, then looked at me.

"This is..."

"My travel companion."

"Ohhh..." He reluctantly made formalities at me.

I returned his gesture. Not reluctantly.

"Hanguang-jun, what was it you wanted to discuss with me?" He sat down and gestured us to sit as well.

Without saying much (as he always does) Lan Zhan pulled out that pouch and pulled the torn piece of cloth inside it. He placed it on the table and stared intensely at Huaisang (pfft-)

I tried not to laugh at all the intensity.

Lan Zhan gave me a glare upon noticing the behaviour I tried hard to suppress but couldn't. I suppressed it successfully.

"Whose cloth is this?"

"I don't know! I don't know!"

"Let me see the ends of your clothes."

"W- What-"

"Cooperate."

Now Huaisang stood up. Lan Zhan checked and found that the torn piece of cloth was indeed from his clothes.

"What were you doing there?"

"Where?-"

"At the man-eating bunker."

"I don't know anything!"

"..." "What were you doing there?" His voice sounded grave. So grave it rang in my eardrums, the surroundings vibrated, and it started becoming hazy...

'All this due to his tone?...No...' I was feeling rather unpleasant so suddenly.

The surroundings started bleeding in, my head felt heavy, I felt like throwing up.

Lan Zhan noticed and immediately caught me before I could slump down completely and hit my head hard.

The next moment I know, I'm in a void, and there's black.

It's like that void I experienced during death, that...bleakness.
