I spent most of my Saturday mowing the lawn, watering the plants and reading about gothic tales under the rear cover, parched from such labor and not to mention it was boiling.
There were moments where I just wanted to get naked but now I don't think was an appropriate time...
Uh no it wasn't like I wanted to do that what that's absurd-
'You okay son? The heat getting you, we can take a break...' My dad huffed exhaustedly and I patted the empty seat next to me and he sat with relief.
'I think you need it more than me,' I mentioned and he let out a raspy, manly laugh, patting me on the back.
'Here you go boys! Two tall glasses of cold lemonade coming right up!' My mother hollered, placing the tray on the mini table before heading inside to clean the kitchen probably.
The cold sensation of the refreshing lemonade hitting the back of my throat on a hot day was the best feeling ever and I could tell my father enjoyed it more than me.
'What you er reading?' My dad pointed over to the book i was holding and I only smiled slightly.
'It's quite old you might not know... The Epic of Gilgamesh?' I raised my head to look at my father and his lips twitched.
'A very old poem in deed... A wild King Gilgamesh's tragic love to Enkidu, a man.' My father frowned and I turned to face him giving him all my attention.
'That's not true! How is it tragic if they loved each other?' I questioned and my father looked at me with raised brows.
'Gilgamesh wasn't human and so his emotions were heightened and he mistook Enkidu's act of kindness for love... That is one mistake you never make kid.'
'Yeah well? Why did he turn down to sleep with a woman then?' I fired back and my father simply shook his head.
'Didn't you know? She turned one of her lovers into a werewolf. That wouldn't be great for the family name...''But-'
'No buts. You know homosexuality is absolutely forbidden. It's simply unnatural and disgusting. That's a lesson Gilgamesh eventually learned and it was for the better.'
'How do you know so much about their story..?' I inquired curiously and my father paused for a moment.
'I'm a priest... superstitions and old scriptures is my job, son,' My father smiled at me before standing up and heading inside the house.
Bzzz Bzzz
I pulled out my phone looked at the contact.
'Yes hello?'
'Is that anyway to greet your girlfriend- it's spelt s-t-a-c-y no e please get it right,'
'Where are you? Why is it so noisy,' I sipped on my lemonade once more as I heard her sigh through the screen.
'At Starbucks where else anyways I wanted to ask if you wanted to see a movie with me tonight at 8? Then we could head back to mine and just chill, if not totally fine-'
'No I would love to I just need to ask my parents...'
'Parents? Aren't you like 16 I'm sure you are capable of going out late at night- thank you, ugh...'
'True if I'm with you I'm sure they won't mind much, even though you don't know it my parents love you as if you were their own,' I confessed through the speaker and I could imagine the huge grin on Stacy's face.
'Really? That means a lot to me! Same here my mother absolutely adores you!'
'Haha I'm sure she does! Well I got to go but I'll pick you up at 7?'
