DANNY'S POV
I fucked up. Bad.
I regretted saying those things to Ariel as soon as the words left my mouth. I should have given her a chance to explain but instead I let my anger get in the way. I know she wouldn't cheat on me. But now it's too late and it's all my fault.
I tried calling her a few times but her phone has been off for days. And I didn't know where she was staying so there was no other way I could talk to her.
I scrolled through my phone to find Ariel's contact number to try and call her again, and remembered that she had given me her friends number as a 'in case of an emergency number'. Maybe Ariel was with her. It couldn't hurt to try, right?
I found the contact labeled 'Olivia' and pressed it, bringing the phone to my ear. It rang a few times before a voice came from the other end.
"Hello?"
"Hi...is this Olivia?" I asked.
"Yes," she replied. "Danny?"
"Um, yeah," I mumbled, slightly taken back that she knew who I was. "Is Ariel with you?"
"She staying with me. But she's not with me at the moment. Why?"
"I just need to talk to her," I said, biting my lip.
"About what?" She questioned. "About how much you don't love her and that she was a mistake? You know, she hasn't left her room in 3 days. She's heartbroken."
I lowered my head in shame. "I didn't mean any of what I said...I was angry, I wasn't thinking," I tried to explain. "I'm sorry."
"You should be telling that to Ariel, not me."
"I know," I sighed. "I've been trying to talk to her but she hasn't been picking up."
"She's had her phone off. She doesn't want to talk to anyone."
"I know," I mumbled.
"You know she didn't want to kiss Luke. He kissed her before she could do anything."
"I should have listened to her," I shrugged, even though I knew she couldn't see me. "What actually happened?"
"Her and Luke dated last year, but they broke up because they didn't want to ruin their friendship. Ariel thought that she was meeting him for a normal friendly chat but he told her that he still loved her and tried to kiss her. She pushed him away but after the picture was taken." She rushed. "To be honest, I think Luke told someone to take the photo and put it online."
"Why would he do that?" I asked, becoming angry.
"I guess he would do anything to break you two up so he can get back together with Ariel." She suggested.
I didn't say anything.
"Well, I have to go," Olivia sighed. "You could try coming round later. I'm not saying that she will want to talk to you, but it's worth a try. It's better to talk face to face than through a phone right?"
"I guess...thanks."
"No problem."

1 DAY LATER
I started to make my way towards Olivia's house to talk to Ariel. I was nervous for some reason. I had no idea what she was going to say, she'll probably reject me. After all, I did break her heart.
I was walking through the park when someone caught my eye. It was a tall blonde guy, leaning on a brick wall on his phone. I didn't know who he was but he looked familiar. And then it clicked.
It was Luke.
Anger started to build up inside of me as I started to walk over to him. I couldn't ignore him. I stood in front of him and looked up from his phone, his eyes widening slightly.
"Are you Luke?" I asked.
"Yeah," he nodded slowly.
I lifted my right arm and swung it towards him, my fist hitting the side of his face cause him to stumble back.
"What the fuck?" He groaned, holding his cheek.
"Stay away from Ariel," I spat.
"What?" Luke asked, regaining his balance. "What do you mean, stay away from her?"
"Just leave her alone," I shouted.
He stood and looked at me with a confused expression. "You're Danny right? Ariel's boyfriend?"
"Was her boyfriend. You kinda fucked that up."
He bit his lip and gave me a sympathetic look. "You didn't hear?"
"Hear what?"
"About Ariel."
"What about her?"
He bit his lip and looked down at the floor. "They found her last night," he said quietly. "By the river. The one with the bridge."
I felt my heart sink to my stomach. I didn't know what he meant by 'found her' but I knew it wasn't going to be a good thing.
Luke looked as if he was about to burst into tears but he carried on. "We think she jumped."
I froze. He couldn't really be saying...
"She's...dead?" I whispered.
Luke nodded.
