Chapter 13
Shayla
"What are we doing here in the middle of the night?" Eddie whispered as we got out of the car.
"When I called you earlier to take a nap. You should have." I chided, handing him a black coat and a gun.
"I tried. Noah was up and Angel was working."
I rolled my eyes. "You were gambling on your computer. Don't lie to me."
He chuckled. "Whatever. Why are we here?"
"The girl was caught trying to burn this place down. We are supposed to figure out why. My brother sent me."
He nodded. "Got it. Business stuff." He smiled.
It wasn't snowing. It never did here. It was just cold enough to freeze your tits off though. Even with my tits being layered in a bra and two sweatshirts, my size A babies were dying. I didn't understand the layout of this place. The main house was on the highway. Only about 200 ft. away from the road. But the barn was about half a mile away almost to the forest line. I don't know if it was an afterthought. Or if maybe there was another house that used to be closer to it. Either way I was glad it was so far away from the main house.
The door had a padlock on it I couldn't break into. After 20 minutes of fighting with the fucking thing I put my silencer on the gun and shot the lock. It didn't work the first time, but it did the second.
Eddie was laughing at me, I hit him in his stomach and made him open the door. Eddie was always more graceful than me. With his short brunette hair and perfect eyebrows. His brown eyes were always the life of the party. He truly is the best human I know.
Inside the barn was pitch black. We stepped in, closed the door and waited to see if we heard anything. Eddie beside me took out his phone and turned on the flashlight. He shined it around trying to find something suspicious. We didn't know what we were looking for.
"Isn't it weird that there's nothing here? Not even dust?" Eddie asked after we'd looked around the bottom floor.
"Very. What's up there?" I pointed to the loft.
"Let's find out." We took the small stairwell on the left up to the loft.
Yeah, now we knew why the girls wanted to burn the place down. It was a meth lab. An old one. But one that had been used at some point. And the way the chemicals were lined up against the wall it was going to be used again soon.
"Let's get the chemicals out and do what the girls wanted to do." Eddie said, winking at me.
"Uh, what if....what if the scary grandma comes after us?" I whispered to him.
"We are the bad ass government agents sent to fix this town. I'm pretty sure grandma will be just fine. I'm pretty sure she won't even know it was us. No one will. Let's not even tell the Bros we were here." He quipped, grabbing some lye.
I grabbed some too.
"Sounds good."
Once all the chemicals were outside and poured into a hole we dug up and covered up we turned back to the barn. The gasoline the girls had a day before was still there. We used it to soak the bottom of the barn. Eddie lit a match and threw it inside then slammed the door shut.
The run back the car was a fast one. The car ride home was even faster. We were both back at our houses and pretending to be asleep before anyone in this town saw the flames of Rosie Reynolds old red barn burning to the ground.
I fell asleep with a smile on my face and the image of Cyn glaring at me holding a mop in hand. :)
