Chapter 3
It took three hours for Azrael to get them to leave. As he knocked and entered my room he sawI was nowhere to be seen. Azrael started looking around the room and finally found my curled up in the closet. He picked me up and took me to my bed and went to tuck me in but accidently knocked something over. As it was falling he tried to catch it. It fell to the floor and Azrael cringed at the loud noise it would make but the noise never came. "Vivien wake up" Azrael tried shouting but it only was heard as less than a whisper.
He got a book and waited in my room for me to wake up. After about another two hours he fell asleep on the chair leaning on my bed. I started waking up when I felt the bed dip. I realized how hungry I was. As I opened my eyes I saw him. He didn't look the most comfortable. I got up the best I could without waking him up. When I stood up I cast a levitation spell on him and laid Azrael down in my bed. Once he was in and the covers were over him I left the room.
I looked out the window when I got to the main room only to see it was about five thirty. I was really hungry so I made my way to the kitchen for the second time today. The dishes still weren't done but I was too hungry to care. I looked in the fridge and grabbed an apple. It wasn't the most filling but it was something that will hold me over til dinner. It bugged me that I didn't finish the task that I started hours ago so I needed to finish cleaning the dishes. In school people would always comment on how I could never leave a job unfinished even when I needed to.
As I finished drying the dish in my hand I felt someone tap my back. When I looked I was shocked to see it wasnt my roommate. It was just a random kid. "Hey what are you doing in this place? This is no town for someone your age." He looked about five-six. But the weird thing was his young yellow eyes weren't filled with life or joy.
"Don't worry ma'am I'm supposed to be here. I was dropped off earlier by who my parents said I 'belong too' now. But that's silly people cant belong to other people." The child stated as I realized he had a scar over his left eye. A scar made from a sword or a knife.
This kid was short but I could tell he was strong. His hair was short and red like an apple. He looked adorable but his eyes were unsettling. The way they didn't show any emotion or look like they were alive. But as I kept looking at him I saw something that really made me worry, small scars up and down his arms and legs. They didn't look like they could be made by himself but I could tell they were made by some kind of knife. I felt a knot in my throat as I continued to stare.
"Ma'am, Are you alright? I've been calling you for the past ten minutes. Then Mr. Fennic came out and called you too." I knelt down to the young child in front of me and wrapped my arms around him. Just holding him for what felt like seconds but was truly two minutes. The thing that snapped me out of it was the small sniff next to my ear. He grabbed me like his life depended on me holding him.
I picked him up seeing as he still wouldn't let go. And if I'm being honest I didn't want to eather. It broke my heart that a child had burst out crying just because some one -who he didn't even know- held him with care and love. The things he must have gone through were truly something I never wanted to think of.
"Well you two seem to get along. I'll leave him with you then." although Azrael said that in the corner of my eye I could see him watching us from the living room as I finished up the dishes. The young kid was not letting go of my leg the entire time. It was a little hard to put the dishes away but I handled it.
"Hey little one you never told me your name." He looked up at me with very tired eyes. It looked like he was going to pass out at any moment. "Number 82." I looked at him in shock. I was about to say something but Azrael cut me off "He doesn't have one."
"Can I name you then? It would make it a lot easier that way." He looked at me with these eyes that I can't explain. Filled with hope? Joy? His bright Yellow eyes had hints of orange and if you look very closely, small red streaks. Just like the sun. Sun umm. "Sol"
His smile grew to the point I thought it would tear his face. Sol ran off to the living room screaming his new name with such pride. Azrael looked up from his book when Sol approached him. They both said something but I couldn't hear. I soon understood when they shook hands that Azrael made Sol properly introduce himself.
