Chapter ten.
April 20, 1988.
Marlena is 37 weeks pregnant.
Marlena has being having some contractions.
Marlena wake up very early in the morning as she felt a contraction.
Marlena stiffened in john's arms and She began slowly breathing in and out.
John wake up from his sleep and he looked at marlena.
He wondering what was going on
Marlena?, Is something wrong,
John asked her.
Once the pain was over marlena realized she needed to tell john
what was happening.
John don't be alarmed but I have been experiencing contractions, marlena told her husband.
"What?, Contractions?, Why didn't you tell me?, john asked his wife.
John The reason I didn't tell you before was because I wasn't sure if they were actually labor pains or Braxton Hicks contractions.
I have been timing them since I had the first contractions.
The pains are about thirty minutes apart.
I need to time them for a while to see if they become more frequent.
John, Remember what the doctor told us that the babies will come early, Marlena told her husband
"Ok, ok, We will time the contractions.
john told his wife.
It could be hours yet before anything happens.
Marlena told her husband.
John nod as he put one arm around marlrna and he picked up her hand.
"When you feel another pain, squeeze my hand, I want to help you through it.
John told his wife
"I will.
Marlena told her husband.
John leaned over to kiss marlena.
When they parted, marlena sucked in a breath and squeezed John's hand.
"Another pain?.
John asked his wife.
Marlena nodded as she breathed in and out.
He looked at his watch and noticed only twenty minutes had passed.
"They are getting a little closer,
John told her.
John was feeling really nervous and anxious.
He had the feeling they would be seeing their children soon.
Do you need anything?.
John asked his wife.
"No.
Marlena replied.
Do you want me to called the midwife?.
John asked his wife.
Yes, marlena said to her husband.
Okay, i will called now.
John said as he get up from the bed and he calls the midwife.
Ten minutes later the midwife arrived to the apartment.
Emliy the midwife saw marlena walking around the living room.
Marlena let's get you the bedroom and can see what's going on and go on from there, emily told marlena.
