Two years later.

2014.

Loud music blared around him as he brought his glass to his lips, downing what remained of the liquid inside. He ignored the burning sensation as it traveled down his throat, smiling at the man across the table from him. He couldn't hear much of the story he was telling, so he settled for leaning forward, resting his arms on the high table and tilting his head slightly. His eyes traveled towards the dance floor, bright lights and flashing lasers flickering across his dark eyes as the crowd bounced in tune with the music. He saw several people dance more or less on top of each other, while others began to pull their partners towards the darker corners of the club, too impatient to take it to the bedroom, or at least into the bathroom where they would have some privacy.

His gaze shifted back towards the man in front of him, a bit shorter with longer blonde hair and bright blue eyes. He told Issac his age after approaching him at the bar, but he couldn't bring himself to remember it right now. The man opened his mouth to say something before Issac shifted slightly, placing a hand on his forearm to interrupt him.

"Wanna get out of here?" he asked, fingertips gently tracing the pulse point on the inside of his wrist. He didn't have to explain, it was clear what he was thinking and judging by the change in the other's face, he wasn't the only one. He resisted the urge not to grin in triumph when he felt the other's pulse speed up slightly.

"Sure." The man answered, eyes flickering downwards slightly. "My place or yours?"

"Yours?" He suggested, fingers tracing circles on the other's skin. "I'm only in DC for work, I'm staying with a colleague of mine so I'm not sure it would be a good idea to go back to mine." The last two reasons were a complete lie. While he was currently in Washington D.C for work, he was actually staying in a nice hotel room all by himself. He didn't really feel like explaining to S.H.I.E.L.D that he went out while currently on an assignment with the sole purpose of just wanting to get laid.

"Sounds good to me." The other's grin was young and boyish, slightly lopsided. He was attractive to a degree, but Issac couldn't place the odd familiarity that came with him. He let the man lead him through the streets, rolling up the sleeves of his shirt as the other talked on and on about something he wasn't paying attention to. He wasn't sure if he was just drunk or high or if this was his natural personality, but he really didn't stop talking. Even when Issac grabbed him after they entered the small house and pressed him up against the door he would continue to utter small phrases between bruising kisses.

He was just reaching for the man's belt when he felt warm hands against his chest, gently pushing him back.
"What?" he mumbled, gently frowning at the other and wondering if he had gone too hard too soon.

"You weren't listening," The other chuckled breathlessly. "I said your back pocket is vibrating."

Issac furrowed his eyebrows, pulling back and reaching into the back pocket of his jeans to find his phone. He glanced at the familiar caller ID, sighing softly.

"Sorry, just give me a second.." He mumbled, putting the device to his ear as he stepped away into the kitchen for some privacy. "Nat?" He answered quickly.

"Hey, I know you're on your own assignment right now.." She trailed off. From what he could hear on the other end, she was driving, and pretty fast too judging by the roar of the engine. "I don't know the whole story. Fury was shot down in Steve's apartment, he's being brought into surgery as we speak. Where are you?"

Issac frowned, feeling a strange shift in the air as he went silent. He gave her the address in a heartbeat, taking a moment to process the information. Nick Fury, shot down. Those two words in the same sentence seemed nearly impossible to him. The man constantly seemed so above all, indestructible even. He leaned back against the counter, running a hand through his hair as thoughts began swirling around his mind once again.
