Dreams of a Luminous star (ongoing)

Chapter 5

Adeline's POV

I take my usual place at the back, away from the attention of the instructor. Mr. Gaurus usually pays attention to everyone else as they actually have a gift to nurture, hence I never bother to stand up front.
Every now and then he tries to get me to see if I can tap into my gift but it has each time been futile.

The instructor begins. Being completely honest i'm not paying any attention whatsoever. I can barely even hear him so I simply keep my gaze downwards.

"Adz!" Cel whisper-yelled.

"Come on give it a try" she said with a look of sympathy.

"....I can't Cel" I said quietly.

"You can. Jus-" she paused looking ahead.

I turned to see what caught her attention and found the instructor making his way toward me.

I hadn't paid much attention to him earlier but my God was he beautiful. His eyes shined a fiery red and his silky smooth hair in the same color. He kept his facial expression stoic and unreadable as he approached, his figure towering over me.

Upon reaching me he spoke "Adeline..." was all he said but damn the deepness of his voice caught me completely off guard.

"Do you not find any interest in learning the way of the sword?" He asked.

I cast my gaze downward before attempting to respond "Actually i-"

"She has no gift sir" a girl who I recognized was the girl from earlier that mocked me for wishing to become a traveller without a gift. She smirked slightly and batted her eyelashes at him.

Without taking his gaze off me he responded.
"Hmm, I see."

He took a few steps back and raised his hands which ignited in flames. He brought them together infront him out-stretched before pulling them apart in a horizontal motion leaving a trail of fire. As he did so the line of flames died down revealing a dark red sword.

He turned the sword upright and handed it to me.

"This shall be yours" he said as he turned and went back to the front of the crowd.

I examined the sword to find it was neither too light or too heavy but weighed perfectly enough so that i'd be able to use it effectively.

As I flipped the sword over to begin use I noticed a small wording engraved just below the handle on the blade.

He placed my name on the sword.

I stood in my room examining the sword which the instructor, Orion, had earlier given to me in training.
It was my first time using a sword, moreso, any weapon in practice. I have to say it felt so natural.
I'd usually just attend for the physical training aspect where we'd train our physical bodies to be stronger and faster but the minute weapons practice came around i'd either stand in the back or just sit it out altogether.

I swung the sword a couple of times enjoying the feel of it slicing through the air.

I should get some extra practice later.

Just then a knock came at the door.
"Adz" it was Cel.

"Yeah come in" she opened the door and came in dressed in her casual outing attire.

"Ouuu where are you off to?"

"WE are gonna go explore the board walk and other attractions on this planet. Then tomorrow we can check out the other one just over, but for now just get dressed" she said as she dived into my bag pulling out an ensemble.
