By the time I was finished in the shower and got ready everybody was already seated and having their dinner.

"hey"I silently announced my presence as I sat down in my seat already sat with a plate of food.
I send Susannah a thankful look.

"Oh you're just jealous Jere has a better body then you." Belly retorted smiling their all engrossed in there own conversation.

I raised my eyebrow at her in utter confusion why was miss 15 year old looking at Jeremiah's body. Why was she looking? Why did i care? no I don't.

"Uh no, actually, it's all about the lean look now. Right Bek?" He turned to look at me in helplessness.

I nodded sarcastically, "Whatever helps you sleep at night."
Steven playful rolled his eyes at me but is quick to back up his statement, " Otherwise you can't wear tailored suits" he justified.
"Tailored suits." Conrad mumbled under his breath with a grin.

"When are you leaving for training camp, man?" Steven asks Conrad, turning his attention to a very quiet Conrad. "Uh he quit football." Jeremiah answered for him.

Now not only was Stevens attention on Conrad but so was Mine, Belly's and Laurels. I could tell he hated it as i meet his eyes for a brief moment although I wished for it to be longer but he quickly broke eye contact sooner then i'd hoped.

"Wait, really? You quit?" I questioned Conrad with a unknowing look on my face.

"Mhm. yeah" he replied simply as if it was the easiest decision he'd ever made. "Woah what man? I would kill to play college football." Steven chimed in.

"He can always change his mind." Susannah added. "I'm not going to change my mind. I was just going to sit on the beach all season anyways." Conrad quickly shut it down with a shrug.

He loved, loves football it was,is his passion. He'd beg everyone and anyone to practise with him. What had made him change his mind so drastically. I longingly looked into his eyes desperate to find the answer. I couldn't.

"Well, if you're not playing football, what are you doing all summer?" Laur asked Conrad he just shrugged off the question once again.

What's happened to you Conrad fisher?

"Oh dude. You can come work at the club. Yeah, with me and Jere." Steven smiled

"I'm not gonna work at the club." Conrad practically scoffed. "Wait, you guys are working this summer?" I asked the two boys but mainly directed to Jere.

"Yeah I'm lifeguarding and Steven is working at the snack shop." Jeremiah answered

"Snack shop." i laughed to myself, "Do ye like wear hairnet's" I teased Steven.
"It's fashionable" he replied.
"Classy." I said sniffling back a well deserved snigger while nodding my head sarcastically.

"Oh girls, I almost forgot. I have a surprise for you." Susannah said getting up and coming back with two white envelopes with our names written on them in cursive.

"So this is why you had to stop by the country club." Laurel said giving Susannah a questioning look.

"I'm confused." I mumbled as i eagerly but carefully opened the envelope.
"What is it?" Jeremiah asked putting his head over my shoulder peaking into the envelope. I could feel his hot breath against my skin as he exhaled, the rhythm of his heart as it thumped against my back.

"I wrangled the girls an invitation to be a debutante." Susannah smiled

My happiness couldn't be subdued as I read the invitation. I was so intrigued by the debutante ball event every summer and the excitement that surrounded it. It was a no brainer of course i was going to say yes!

"Is that the thing wear the girls wear white dresses and curtsy?" Belly asked.

"It is when a girl comes of age and is presented to society. I know it sounds silly, but I swear it's fun.
Girls come from all over New England to Cousins just to be apart of it. You two would make so many new friends."Susannah said.

I smiled, anxiously holding the envelope waiting for the right time to say yes!

"I still can't believe you are holding onto this archaic dream." Laur said getting up. "No, it used to be about finding a husband, but now it's about networking. They teach you leadership skills, like how to market yourself, and it benefits charity."
Susannah reassured us.

I was smiling at the mere thought of it. Waiting for the perfect time to except the invite. I'm pretty sure yes! was radiating off my face.

"The whole deb scene is bullshit. It's for sheep." Conrad interrupted. I frowned and it only got worse when Jeremiah agreed, "Yeah." He said nodding to Conrad

Wait to set fire to my forrest, I wasn't going to let Conrad or Jeremiah fisher have any impact on my decision. My mind was made.

"Yes" I practically spat the words out the table goes silent.
"I want to be a debutante" I say more confidently this time.

"Oh this is amazing our first debutant" Susannah says smiling from ear to ear It's impossible not to smile back when Susannah is, she's magic like that. She came over to me and immediately embraced me in a warm hug.

"I think I wanna do it too" Belly announced from across the table. Susannah's smile grew bigger and quickly was embracing Belly into a hug.

"oh my god not you too" Jeremiah mumbled under his breath obviously unimpressed.

"Literal sheep" Steven scoffs. "Ow" he said in discomfort as I kicked him from under the table. I send daggers with my eyes his way, while still smiling

"Okay. this is going to be so much fun just you guys wait. There is uh.. the tea,the auction, the ball of course, the rehearsal" Susannah said getting carried away with herself at the bare idea but i was getting carried away right with her.

"I gotta right this down" she gasps and she grabs a pen and paper from the kitchen and sat back down writing it all down. "We need to go shopping!" she looked at me and Belly gushing.

"This sounds expensive" Laur pipes up.

"No,no don't worry Laur it's all on my. It was my idea and we still need to style you for you're book party" Susannah says calming Laur worries slightly.

"Now who's going to escort who to the ball?" Susannah questioned looking at each boy at the table

The silence is deafening. "Not me" Conrad answered abit too quick for my liking. "I went last year" he followed it up with.

" I thought all debs were sheep." Belly hissed at him. He doesn't respond.

"Yeah I swore off balls" Jeremiah followed up. Steven tried to swallow back his laughter but he failed miserably. "Dances dude!" he said trying to back track himself.

Susannah stared Steven for a answer. "Yeah no way." "Can't, no never." he answered.

"Wow guys stop fighting over us" Belly's says sarcastically.

"Yeah we're not going with any of ye we will find our own dates" I said.

"Yeah good look with that" Steven mutters under his breath but loud enough so the other boys could hear as they all laughed to themselves.

"Alright, we'll aren't ye going to a bonfire, so clean up and get ready if ye want to go! Or you guys can join me, Belly and Laur for a movie night"

"Bonfire, it is "
