That night I had a difficulty fighting my thoughts. And of course, I didn't get a wink of sleep. I still didn't know what was really going on in my heart and in my head. It made me absent-minded. I was often told that the kettle was beeping or my dinner was burning. I've been thinking all the time about my relationships and couldn't find out what is actually going on with me. Why was I feeling that way?
When Monday came, it came to cleaning Alex's apartment as usual. It was supposed to be our first meeting since my date with Arek. Somehow I hadn't seen the German since that.
Before I entered his apartment, I stood at the door for a moment and wondered if I should give up, turn around and come back to the apartment downstairs. I knew that seeing him sad would break my heart. I gathered myself together and went inside. To my surprise, the smell of scrambled eggs greeted me and encouraged to come inside. Confused, I left my cleaning stuff at the staircase by the door and headed to the kitchen where I found Alex grinning from ear to ear who was cooking breakfast at the very moment.
"Oh, good morning beautiful girl." He greeted me cheerfully and I was both speechless and confused. I expected him to be rather gloomy and sad but there was something completely opposite to my expectations.
"Hey." I replied hesitantly to the greeting. "Mmm, it smells good."
"Do you want some?" He offered but I shook my head.
"I have to clean your flat and you know it." I replied going back in the direction of the staircase for the bucket and the mop.
"But first you need to try my breakfast!" He quickly found himself next to me and, grabbing my arms, led me to the kitchen where he sat me at the table.
So I ended up having breakfast with him and the scrambled eggs he made were delicious. I have never eaten something so delicious. Of course he said modestly that the dish tasted normal and that it was nothing unusual. To me it was one of the best made scrambled eggs I ever had.
After helping him with washing the dishes, I finally got down to dusting. Alex turned on the gramophone which was placed in the living room so I could listen to some music and he himself went to sleep in his bedroom. The sounds coming from this invention effectively made my cleaning more pleasant so the dust was wiped everywhere quickly except for his bedroom. I decided to do that as soon as Alex got up as I didn't want to wake him up. I started to sweep the floor and the record in the gramophone had already finished and I was sweeping in complete silence. I have to admit that this gramophone stuff was a wonderful invention of our times and the music played seemed as it was played live. When I was done sweeping I carefully went to his room where, as it turned out, he wasn't sleeping at all.
