It's been a couple of weeks since Mom and I had the last argument about going home. I was half-asleep on Nightshade's side, when Mom woke me up. "Eira...Eira!" she yelled. I snapped awake. "What is it Mom?" I asked. She nudged me up, "Someone's getting close to the territory. I'll be back." She got up and ran out of the den. I dressed into my Rider clothes and followed her to the outside. She grabbed my shoulder, "No, if it's a Dragon Trapper, I don't want you to get hurt." I stood there, and my mother put on her mask, climbed Cloudjumper, and flew off.
I waited for Mom to return, only to hear the dragons roaring below. I knew she was back, so I ran down the rocks and underground. That's where I saw Mother with someone with her. I heard the person speak, "Who are you? The dragon thief? Uh...Drago Bludvist? Do you even understand what I'm saying?" I got a little closer and saw a dragon being lifted over the rest and flown towards the...man? "Toothless! It's okay, it's okay, it's okay. I'm glad to see you, too, bud. You really had me worried there." I gasped. Hiccup?
I saw Mom command the dragons to breathe their fire. She got close to Toothless and commanded him to lie down, with a swift move of a hand. She got closer to Hiccup, and gasped. Then she backed away. "Hiccup?" she asked. Hiccup looked confused. "Uh..." Mother took off her mask, "Could it be? After all these years? How is this
possible?" Hiccup took a step back, "Uh, should I...Should I know you?" Reality hit Mom as she knew the answer, "No, you were only a babe. But a mother never forgets." I saw Hiccup's reaction, and Mom hushed him. "Come." she said.
Hiccup followed Mom. I followed their footsteps, trying hard not to be spotted. "Hold on! Wait a minute!" I heard Hiccup yell. Mom kept running. "Come back here. You can't just say something like that and run off. You're my mother? I mean, what the--Do you grasp how insane that sounds? I have questions!" He tried to climb a rock, so Toothless tried to push him. I helped a bit, and Toothless saw me. He tilted his head at me, so I shushed him and he kept following Hiccup. Hiccup, kept talking, "Where have you been all this time? What have you been doing? But they said you were dead! Everyone thinks you were eaten by..." He stepped outside. He looked at the center of the Sanctuary.
He kept staring, and so, I thought that it would be a good idea to step out. "Hey, Foot!" I yelled. He turned around and looked at me. "Who are you?" he asked. I chuckled, "You mean you don't remember your own twin sister?" His eyes widened and pretty soon I was trapped in a hug. "I missed you so much," I heard him say. I smiled and hugged him back, "I missed you too, you fishbone." He released me from the hug and Mom was standing there, looking at us both. With Cloudjumper. "Darn it Mom, I told you that it looks creepy when Cloudjumper stares at people upside-down." I groaned.
I remembered something and smacked my forehead. "There's someone I think you'll be happy to meet." Hiccup nodded, and I whistled sharply. Not too sharp, but attention grabbing. Soon enough, Toothless was tackled by none other than... "Nightshade!" Hiccup yelled. I smiled. Nightshade licked me and sat down next to me. "She missed you guys. A lot." Hiccup grinned and pet her head. Mom looked at Toothless, who she was fondly getting along with. "When you both were babes, I thought that peace was possible on Berk. Instead, everyone ignored me. One day, two dragons came into our home, a Monstrous Nightmare, and Cloudjumper here. I saw that they found you two in the cradle. I rushed to protect you, but you were in no harm. I saw you, Eira, that night, You were there smiling in the cradle, and the Monstrous Nightmare, it saw you with a mother's gaze. It took you out of the cradle and into it's wings. You were safe. And you Hiccup, Cloudjumper looked at you playfully. Until he caused that scar on your chin. It was all like a family, until your father thought that you were in harm. Aware that you, Eira, would get hurt, the Monstrous Nightmare picked you up and flew out of the house. Cloudjumper knew that I was in trouble, and took me away. Took me here."
I was stunned by Mom's story. So was Hiccup. Mom nudged him to meet the Bewilderbeast. I ran in front of them and the Majesty saw me. Quickly, I bowed, for the respect. Hiccup's turn began, only to receive ice in his face. I patted his back, "That happened to me too, don't worry, he likes you."
Nightshade ran towards the rest. "She's hungry. Isn't it feeding time, Mother?" I asked. She nodded. She looked at Hiccup, "Are you hungry?" Hiccup responded, "Yeah, I could eat." "Good, it's feeding time."
"Hey, I thought we were going to eat." Hiccup protested. Mom smiled, "Oh we are." I laughed, but I had to stay onto Nightshade which was hard." The King blew out fish from the sea. Hiccup was amazed and Mom was laughing. "Hey Hiccup!" I yelled. He looked at me. "A race to see who gets the most fish?" I asked. Suddenly, I saw the old Hiccup's mischievous smile, "You're on!"
