^What Eira is wearing for the Ball^
-Don't judge me I can't draw well-

It was a Winter Ball, something that they had done for the Valisbot celebration. "Mother, you didn't need to do this," Eira sounded tired, since her mother was planning on setting her up with someone since her father wasn't around. "Hush, Eira, you'd be lucky to be alive right now. Even though this is hard for you to be living, you do realize that at your age, most women are already married." Eira nodded, "Yes mother, I know, I'm just not sure that I would find anyone." "Nonsense, the other tribes are coming for this celebration, you'll dazzle the room." She placed a small wreath on Eira's head, one with roses and the natural color of green leaves. She wore a red dress with a green robe over it. On her waist, was a brown belt with with the Hairy Hooligan insignia on it.

"Hey, the guests have arrived," Hiccup came into the dressing room, sporting a small stubble. "Thank you Hiccup, let me finish up your sister's dress," Valka was stitching up some of Eira's robes. Hiccup nodded, "Eira, you look beautiful." Eira flushed red, "Thank you, you're looking handsome today." Hiccup gave her a nod and walked out the door. "Mom, are you done?" After Valka finished her daughter's braid, she looked at her daughter, "Yes dear, you are free to go."

Eira nodded, and slowly walked to the door. As she slowly opened the door, she noticed elegant Viking women dancing with their significant others, or standing near their families. "C'mon Eira, you can do this," Eira breathed in, allowing herself to feel the moment. She stepped down the stairs, mentally wishing that she could be somewhere else. It was a ball to be held in the Great Hall, which was grand enough for a ball such as this. As soon as Eira's feet touched the floor, eyes started looking at her. She gulped, and was pulled back suddenly by someone. "Eira, you're looking lovely today, almost an exact beauty of your mother when she was your age." This was a woman who briefly resembled Snotlout, either that or Snotlout had a terrifying mother. "Excuse me? Do I know you ma'am?" Eira tried being nice to the lady. "Oh, goodness, where are my manners? My name is Fainting Freda, call me Freda though darling. You've only met my young lad Snotface. You look beautiful dear, almost like your mother Eden."

If Eira's heart had been complete it would have broken, but it was already shattered by the mention of her dead mother nearly shattered what was left. Freda noticed the distraught, "Oh, my, I'm sorry, I did not know that she meant so much to you, oh please forgive me darling." "Eira? Are you alright?" Hiccup walked by, Astrid holding his arm. Eira zapped out of her slow and depressing misery and smiled at her brother. "I'm doing fine," she turned to Freda, "I apologize for the sudden worry, I should be over it by now, but, she did mean a lot to me."  Freda sighed, gave her a pat of "motherly" assurance, and so, left to join her family. Eira sighed and Hiccup nudged her sister's side, "Come on, Mom wants me to show you to someone."   Eira rolled her eyes and nodded, "Fine." Astrid smiled and pulled at her sister-in-law's sleeve, "You are going to hardly recognize who he is, he glistened up for you tonight." Eira raised an eyebrow, "Who?" Hiccup took her hand and walked her to the twins, the other set of twins, "She means Tuffnut Thorston."

Astrid was right, Eira could barely recognize Tuffnut, his hair was neater, and he stood up straight, instead of bent as he usually stood. "Hey, Tuff, you're looking, handsome tonight," Eira tried her best not to seem awkward. Tuffnut had a bright red covering his cheeks, "You're looking really pretty today, Eira." Eira smiled, in a weird, goofy way, "Thank you Tuffnut." Valka eyed the two young Vikings, and saw the respect that Tuffnut had for Eira. She bowed at the elder twin, as Ruffnut had seen her Eret and ran to go dance with him. "Well, pleasure to meet you, Tuffnut Thorston. Have you something to ask my daughter or are you simply going to just speak to her?" That was a, weird way of asking if he was going to dance with Eira. "Well, ma'am, I was just planning to speak with her, until, umm, we would, ermmm." Eira had never seen him so flustered. "Mom, let me handle this, please." Valka smiled, leaving her daughter, and asking her son and his fiancée to join her for a small chat. "Thank you for the rescue," Tuffnut was grateful of Eira helping him through that awkward moment. Eira smiled, "It's nothing, how about we have one dance, even for just one simple evening." Tuffnut chuckled, "Well, seems like you are more chipper about it than me." Eira giggled and pulled him onto the middle of the hall as the others were dancing.

The legend was, in the night, the Moon would look upon two faithful and beloved people who were destined to fall in love. Valka had made sure to dress Eira in the vibrant color of red of love so that she would be chosen, and also made sure that she dressed in the color of nature to be deemed serene to the great Moon. Eret stared out at the Haddock twin, how her hair glowed in the midst of the crowd. Her cheery olive eyes glistening more than usual. And she was with the other twin. He was stuck with, Ruffnut. "Do you think the Moon will choose us two tonight?" Ruffnut was staring directly at his muscles and his face. Eret looked confused beyond comparison, as he looked slightly duped from looking at one face to another. He got a small, somewhat good idea. "Hey, would you like to dance with me?" He asked, sheepishly. He thought she looked great, only, his mind was captured by one sole beauty. Ruffnut smiled, more than happy to, "Of course, Eret, Son of Eret!" Eret grinned, feeling guilty at tricking Ruffnut into dancing with him so he could get closer to Eira.

As Eira danced with Tuffnut, she found out that he wasn't a bad dancer. He had some faults, but she enjoyed dancing with him, "You're actually really good at this." He looked proud at the compliment, "Well, there are some surprises that I would like to show you." Eira laughed, and the joyous burst sounded like music to Eret's ears. "You're good at this Eret, I never thought such a muscular hunk like you would be so talented at dancing." Eret shrugged trying his best to stay focused to the girl who was actually paying attention to him, and the girl who was happy dancing with her brother. There was a small awe over the dancing crowd as the Moon loomed over the roof, shining a bright light onto the crowd that was dancing. The music that was playing increased, and the other dancing people got quicker. Eret carefully followed the others, quickening the pace, his heartbeat quickening to the beat.

Eira was leading Tuffnut through the dance, feeling the beat of someone else's heart and her own heart quickened to the beat. There was a rhythm, calm and serene, later rapid and vigorous. The Moon was in full light, over the roof, looking down for the two lovers that would be together soon. Eira looked for the source of the other heartbeat, she could nearly feel it, she wanted to know who it was. The heart was steadying as other people began stopping, preparing to be chosen. Eret felt the other heartbeat, pulsating, it nearly numbed him at the sudden beats. There was a small gasp at first, Eira found it a little harder to see, since there was a bright light in her face.

Eret was shocked to see a blast of bright light in his face. There was a chorus of gasps and someone let go of Eira. As she opened her eyes, Eira saw Tuffnut back away. She backed away and bumped into someone. Eret felt someone, quite smaller than him, bump into his back. Eira and Eret turned around to see the familiar faces of each other. The moon shone brightly and gleamed only onto them two. Eret, who had no idea what the fuss was about, extended a hand towards Eira, asking her silently for a dance. She reached over, carefully, towards him until a sob held her back. Snapped into reality, Eira and Eret turned to Ruffnut, who was in the darkness of the Great Hall. She was shedding tears, and the person who was holding her was her brother. Regret filled Eira's heart, she looked over at Eret with a guilty look. Eret was confused, it hurt to see Ruffnut crying but, he had no idea why she was crying. In a fit of self-hatred and anger, Eira shoved Eret forcefully, making him tumble into the twins. There was a dark gray cloud covering the moon, as if it had accepted the young girl's sudden refusal. Everyone stared at Eira in awe, confusion and interest. She had denied the one chance of being given someone to fall in love with. Hiccup stared at his sister, nearly feeling her confusion, and could only watch as she scurried to the room in which she had been getting ready in. Eret had no idea how to handle the rejection. Ruffnut wiped away her tears and hugged Eret. "I still have a chance with you." As she seemed happy, Eret wasn't. He saw how Tuffnut, shrugged, walking over to join Eira. Eret couldn't do anything, he felt like he shouldn't let Tuffnut near Eira, however, his body would not move. He was still hugged by Ruffnut, being asked to dance with her, and he could only oblige to her requests.
