Chapter 17 ~ The News That Shocked A Nation *Edited*

 Harry’s POV:

(Five Months Later nearly 8 Months after Darcy was taken)

Eight months, eight months without Darcy. Taylor and I pulled ourselves to work each day. We were filled with unhappiness and loss still. We bottled it all inside and forced ourselves to go. It wasn’t easy. You had to feel music, and I couldn’t feel it, I could feel no sensation.

One night after work, I sat in my car until Taylor’s car pulled in behind mine. Then I got out, and we went inside. It was growing dark. And I cooked dinner. While Taylor sat down and sobbed, I didn’t like this part of the routine, it happened each night without fail. But I couldn’t blame her I did it often too. We never thought we would mend again ever.

Then the door rang. “Who could that be?” She asked and wiped tears from her cheeks.

“Don’t know.” I said I threw a towel over my shoulder and went to get the door.

Darcy’s social worker stood there her face sad and small.

“Hello.” She said sadly.

“Hello.” I said to her. I wondered why she was here.

“Hi” She says.

“Hello Kate.” I say, “How can I help you?”

“You can’t help me Harry.” She says “But I can help you.”

I swallow. “Yes.” I say. And wonder in what way.

“Harry some terrible news have come.” She says and pushes a piece of paper into my hands.

“Oh!” I say and glance at the paper.

I look up at Kate “Are you telling me that Darcy parents died in a car crash?” I ask, my eyebrows raised slightly, my heart in disbelief.

“Yes.” Kate say’s she nods sadly. “If you and Taylor are prepared to have Darcy back, it would mean we don’t have to do other things, like find her another home.”

By then Taylor is by my side peering over my shoulder.

“What happened?” She asks leaning forward, holding onto my shoulder to see better.
