Hailey
"Hi, one venti oat vanilla cold brew please" I tell the barista as she punches my order.
"Alright, your drink will be ready at the bar" the barista said, so I slide my card to her but she immediately stops me "No, its ok. Your drink is paid for by that cute gentleman over there" she says before pointing towards the bar.
We both turn our directions towards it, and I soon make eye contact with Caleb who flashes me a quick smirk before leaving.
"O-oh. Okay, thank you" I tell the barista, unsure of what to do. She hands me my receipt and I head to the bar to wait for my drink.
Not even a couple of minutes later, my name gets called out and the barista slides the drink towards me, making sure to flip the cup so I could see what was written on it.
Sorry about last night, hope you do great on your classes today -Caleb
And I know I shouldn't be feeling like this, but for whatever reason, seeing that scribbled on my cup made my mood for the day a lot better than it was just mere minutes ago.
I was still tired and sleepy from last night so I thought that getting a cup of coffee before my quiz was gonna wake me up.
Well, technically it did.
I was an hour early so I decided to get some last minute studying at the library before classes start, and once the bell rang, I had already finished my coffee and I was feeling confident about my odds for today for some reason.
Of course, that's not entirely true 'cause as soon as our questionnaires were handed, half of the things I studied for disappeared. I looked around the room and saw that half of the class was also having a hard time answering with all their faces scrunched up in confusion as they scanned through the questions.
Then I turned to my friends and saw that they weren't having such a hard time answering.
Shit. Hailey focus!
I shook my head and took a deep breath before I finally started racking my brain for answers.
Since we only had our quiz for the whole day, once everyone was done and were outside of the classroom whining about how hard the quiz was, my group was all oddly confident about their answers.
And it suddenly felt like I was the odd one out.
"You know what, we should celebrate tonight" Max suggested as the group started chiming in their 'yeas'. I didn't have the energy to answer so I decided whatever they go with, I'm good. They, however, all turned to me and waited for me to answer.
"Hailey, what do you think?" Christina asked. I looked at each one of them as they waited for me to answer, blinked a couple of times, before I flashed them a smile.
"Sounds good" I tell them, quickly changing the subject.
Can't believe I just tanked my first quiz ever in law school ever!
Welp.
If anything was gonna help me feel the slightest better, it was gonna be alcohol.
We all went to get lunch at some diner outside of the campus before going home to get some rest, then later tonight, we were all gonna meet up at Jake's apartment to do some pre-game before going to some bar across town.
Can't say I was a fan of the idea of going to a place that was literally a couple of feet away from a certain someone's apartment, but I was just hoping that the universe would be on my side tonight to compensate for my mental block earlier.
