It was the very first day of school in Hawkins after the summer break and while some were nervous or even scared to leave the comfort of their homes, others were excited to get to meet all their friends again and walk around the school grounds in their usual groups. Then there were people who just didn't want to attend to - too many people who thought they were better than others, boring lessons with annoying teachers and the terrible cafeteria food.

To say the least, everyone had their own feelings about having to go back to school. As did a girl named Marci Joans.

It was the start of her junior year in high school and if it wasn't for certain people in that school, she'd actually be rather excited to get to go to school again. That's why she kept sitting in her car, a beautiful Ford Cortina, and waited until all the popular kids got inside the school. She didn't wanna get picked on or humiliated on her first day of school already, that's why she chose the safe path for today.

But even though she had planned on only doing this on her first day, almost two months later - October 30th - she still found herself hiding away in her car until everyone who could mean trouble was inside.

Though by doing this, Marci got the chance to observe absolutely everything and could even say which car belonged to which student. That was until she saw a car with a license plate she'd never seen before. She furrowed her brows and sat up in her chair as she watched the grey-blueish Camaro park almost right besides her.

A boy around her age got out of the car, a lit cigarette in his mouth as he looked around. Marci couldn't help but stare as he turned around, taking the cig out of his mouth and in between his fingers as he used his other hand to slam the door of his car shut.

Other girls, that had spotted the new guy just as quickly, practically gawked at him. If they were to describe him, they'd rave about just how soft and perfect his hair looked and that his blue eyes could draw you in like a magnet. To top it off, his outfit that consisted of a pair of blue jeans, a white shirt and a blue jeans jacket, showed off his body perfectly at just the right places. Almost no one seemed to notice the little girl with bright red hair get out of the car as well and skate away without saying even a single word.

While almost all the other girls giggled and twirled their hair around their fingers, Marci swallowed rather harshly. This guy looked like trouble.

As if he heard what she thought, the boy locked eyes with her, letting his tongue lick over the inside of his cheek. An unpleasant shiver ran down her spine, but luckily, the guy seemed to take no special interest in her and instead just flicked his cigarette away before shoving both his hands into the pockets of his jeans and making his way towards the school entrance.

Marci let out a deep breath she didn't know she had been holding until now. Though she wasn't religious, she prayed that her school year would go smoothly and that it wouldn't get even more complicated with him here.

Little did she know that she wasn't the only one who could practically smell the trouble that came with this guy. Steve and Nancy got out of his car with squinted eyes, not knowing what exactly to think of this guy. Another girl got out of Steve's car, gently closing the door behind her before letting out a yawn "Just another wannabe macho, don't give him any attention. That's exactly what he wants" she told them and pressed her lips into a thin line as she looked at the two. Steve shifted his gaze towards the rather short girl, his expression holding concern "You sure you wanna go to school today? You look absolutely terrible, Al"

Al, short for Alice, smiled sarcastically at him "I love you too, dear brother" she replied and though she knew that he was only worried for her well-being, she couldn't help but be irritated "I'll be on my way then. See you two" she waved faintly into their direction before she headed towards the school entrance just like the new guy did a couple of moments ago.

"I can't stay at home" the girl grumbled to herself, the grip around the straps of her backpack tightening "I have to be here. I have to pass my sophomore year without any mistakes or else-" Alice had been so caught up in her own little world that she didn't give attention to where she was going and bumped right into someone "Oh, sorry!" she immediately apologized, her eyes wide with shock.

"Hey, no problem" a familiar voice rang in her ears and she looked up only to find herself staring into the most beautiful pair of eyes she ever saw. The boy in front of her was none other than Eddie Munson, leader of the Hellfire Club - a club in which they played the fantasy game Dungeons and Dragons. Alice had heard a lot of it and she more than once thought about joining the club because of her love for fantasy stuff - if it weren't for her stupid shyness around this guy! Eddie smiled down at her "It can happen to anyone" he added and Alice nodded, unable to get out even a single word around him.

So without saying anything to him, she left.

She couldn't believe just how stupid she was. This had been the perfect opportunity to talk to him and she just threw it out the window like it was nothing! Alice took a deep breath as she arrived at her locker. Hopefully Eddie wouldn't think of her as weird now.
