Chapter 2: First Meeting

Cleo's POV:

I've been walking through the forest for a while now, and I haven't encountered any trouble yet. Darkwood Forest is known for its massive amount of ghost types, but somehow, I haven't met any yet. Maybe I'm just lucky. I shrug and keep heading on my way.

Ava's POV: 

As my alarm rings, I yawn and wake up for the second time this morning. I remember the events of this morning and groan. I get out of bed and get ready for the day. 

After eating breakfast, I went outside for a walk to clear my head. It was a perfect day, the sun was shining, and there was a cool breeze. As I walked, I thought about the events that had transpired. My thoughts drifted back to the morning again. I sighed. Why can't Father just forgive and forget? My thoughts were interrupted when I walked headfirst into a tree. I was snapped back to the present and saw where I was. I had accidentally wandered into Darkwood Forest.

I shivered, remembering the stories we were told in the village. They said that the forest was haunted and told us to stay far away. Now I had accidentally wandered into it. I looked around for an exit to the forest when I was hit from behind with a shadow ball. I was sent flying into a tree with a loud Thunk!. I looked behind me and saw a Gengar grinning evilly.

Cleo's POV:

I sit next to a tree, taking a break. I've been walking for about 30 more minutes, and nothing eventful has occurred. I think I'm getting closer to the exit, as the trees are starting to thin out. As I start getting ready to head off, I hear a loud Thunk! and decide to head over and investigate. When I arrived, I see a Pikachu laying on the ground next to a tree and a Gengar approaching them.

"Hey!" I shout, firing a shadow ball at it. "Get away from that Pikachu!"

"Why should I?" The Gengar hissed at me. " Who's going to stop me? A little Eevee and a little yellow ra- Gah!" At that moment, the aforementioned electric rat kicked him in the face, sending him stumbling backwards. 

"You're going to pay for that, you rat!" I fired another shadow ball at the Gengar, but he dodged it, quickly running at me. He kicked me, sending me flying back into a tree. He tried to use shadow claw on me but couldn't. Sparks leapt off of his body. The Pikachu had used thunder wave on him.

I took this chance and used quick attack, knocking him backwards. The Pikachu used thunder shock and hit the Gengar from behind. Outraged, the Gengar used curse, staggering from the damage he took. I felt myself take damage from the curse, and my legs shook. I couldn't keep this up for much longer. Not giving up, I shot a shadow ball at the Gengar, hitting it. The Gengar staggered backward from the hit. Before it could recover, the Pikachu hit it with thundershock, knocking it into a tree and fainting it. 

However, it was too late. The damage I had received from the fight paired with the curse damage was too much for me. I fell to the ground as my vision blacked out.
