“Meet Tala. I found her wandering the streets late in the night. She looked like she hadn’t eaten a solid meal in several months. She had matted hair and was absolutely filthy.”

“Hello, Ms. Snow. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Tala said. Tala had tawny colored hair, amber eyes that had flecks of blue and green in them. She also had on a beautiful lavender dress and gray shoes donning her slim body. Her skin was lighter in color, almost like she hardly went outside.

Well, she doesn’t even look like an elf, she looks like an elf, but she doesn’t seem human. She’s dressed like an Etrielle, Snowfox told Onvyr.

She is neither elf nor human; you would have to ask her herself what she is. She doesn’t want me to tell anyone her race. He said back.

“Tell me Tala, from what race are you?” Snowfox asked

“Oh, I’m um, a Cha’Tel'Quessir. Can’t you tell?”

“No you are not. You don’t even look like a halfling. What are you, tell me the truth!”

Tala started crying, “B-but, I am not an elf or a human! I m-may not look like, but not elf and human like people would suspect.” she said in a whining voice, “I’m a werewolf. I didn’t chose it, I was just born this way.”

“Ok, how come you lied to me instead of telling me the truth. Don’t act like a baby either I don’t like that, and my dragon won’t like it either. Got it?” Snowfox said sternly.

“Ok, but I’m going to warn you. I’m not a very nice person when I transform.”

“Well, just for your information, I am not a very nice person either. I don’t transform, but I can knock the mess out of you once you get on my nerves. Get it?”

Tala let out a growl and sat down. Onvyr’s mouth dropped.

“No one has talked to her like that...ever.” Onvyr gaped. “Everyone that had barely lived to tell the tale. You’re the first to not get seriously injured. She must sense your power.”

Snowfox rolled her eyes. “Well, I’m not one to back down from a fight. If she doesn’t like me she can get over it.”

They all sat down in the basement at one of Onvyr’s tables. They discussed a plan for how all four of them will manage to escape Auglatha. They decided on leaving at midnight that day. Which meant that they had to pack up everything that they need right now.

“Here is a list of what we will need to escape this hell hole.” Snowfox said as she fished Shadowmoon out of her satchel. I didn’t know we were going to leave so soon. I wanted to stay a little longer. How come we have to leave, Snowfox?

Well, Shadow, I must tell you something. I don’t want you to hate me after this, but I’ve been keeping a very dark secret from you.

W-what is it, O’si?

I killed a man, Snowfox said as she pulled out the wanted poster, I didn’t want to hide it from you, but I had to. I didn’t want you knowing that I am a murderer. The High King isn’t the only man I have killed, but he is the most recent. That is why we must leave this place and never return. Do you understand, my kiir?

No, I don’t. This can’t be true. It just can’t! You raised me! I’m still just a hatchling, but you raised me. One day will come when I must kill you, remember that mother.

I will my child. I’m sorry, please forgive me when that day comes.

“Onvyr, why are they just staring at each other? Is something wrong?” Tala had asked.

“Only the most tragic of events. The hatchling now knows the truth about Snowfox.”

“How is that sad? That dragon is only a baby.”

“You wouldn’t understand. Snowfox has raised her for several weeks. Shadowmoon is almost old enough to live on her own.”

This was true, once a dragon is three months old, they are able to live on their own, train, and do what they want for the rest of their lives. Shadowmoon was just now two and a half months old, and before long she would be the size of a horse. Dragons have growth spurts every three months.

“It’s midnight now, Onvyr. We need to get going.” Snowfox said.

“Aye, we should probably get going.” Tala said in response.

They snuck out the back of the shop and Onvyr set it on fire. “Just so no one tries to track us down.” he said a little hesitantly.

As they made their way down through the alleys Shadowmoon said “I would like to walk, Snowfox. I’m big enough now, please put me down.”

Snowfox set her down with no response. “What’s with them?” Tala asked bluntly.

“Stay out of other people’s business, Tala!” Snowfox yelled, her agitation with the young werewolf finally testing her calm limits.

Loud growls came from Tala as a sign of aggression.

“Ladies, calm down. With the two of you yelling at each other we are bound to get caught, so shut up and quit acting like children!” Onvyr yelled. “We need to keep our cover from being blown.”

Everyone calmed down and decided that it would be in their best interest to just stay quiet until the go out of the town.

They had reached the walls of Auglatha, but there were Paladins mounted on the watch towers. As they snuck past the watchmen and paladins they ran into a guard.

“Halt, who goes there?” the guard demanded.

“It is I, Snowfox Delimbiyra. The one who assassinated the High King.” Snowfox knew what her consequences were going to be.
