Departure

“Alverdus, do you really wish to leave?” Noll asked.

“Yes. How did you know?” Alverdus questioned.

I told them our conversation. Shadowmoon said with a smile.

“Wow. A creature the size of an elephant can some how manage to be a spy. Amazing.” Alverdus replied.

Alverdus packed his things and got ready to go. He hefted his pack onto his shoulders, and stopped at the door to say goodbye to everyone.

“I will be off then. Everyone live a happy life ok.” He said with tears rolling down his cheeks, “I might not have acted like I cared, but I will miss you all”

“Bye brat!” Tala screamed. Even though she was standing in front of him.

“Goodbye brother!” Elfii said as a waterfall of tears poured down her face, “ I’ll miss you! Sent plenty of letters”

“I will, I promise. I’ll miss you too!”

“Have a safe trip.” Snowfox said as she gave him a hug.

“I will. You have always been like my mother. I will miss you, and make sure dad doesn’t get into trouble ok.” Alverdus said as he hugged her back.

“I will.” She replied as a single tear ran down her cheek.

“I’ll be off then. Goodbye!”

With that, Alverdus left the Delimbyra estate and started his long trek to the Dwarven Kingdom.

A month later, Alverdus sent a letter by falcon.

The letter said:
Dear, family
I’ve have finally made it to Master Gorn’s home. It’s great here. There is another elf that live here within  Bular City. Her name is Vena. She has beautiful auburn hair and ice blue eyes. She is training to become a bladesmith, and she seems slightly interested in me. Master Gorn told me to talk to her at my own risk because she’s not exactly the nicest to newcomers. Anyways I have been running errands for Gorn since I got here, and he says I have to earn my keep.
I met Gorn’s family, and there are so many young boys. I have to share a room with them. They play with my bow, and pull on my ears. I really love it here, but I would like it better if you guys were here.
Gorn is calling me; I guess that means that I have another errand to run. I will send another letter in a few weeks. Bye

“I miss him. I wish he would come home.” Elfii said.

They knew deep in their hearts that they missed Alverdus, but they had to focus on the present. They still had to finish repairing the second and third floors on the house. They first floor was completely finished, and the second was halfway so. Onvyr made the progress go a little faster by using magic, but there is only so much one man can do. Shadowmoon did most of heavy lifting, but Tala occasionally helped him.  Elfii worked outside most of the time. Cleaning and getting rid of the weeds in the courtyard. She mended gardens and trees using her nature magic. Snowfox focused mostly on furniture and decoration. This place was going to be restored to it’s former glory.

   Over the course of a year, they continued to get letters from Alverdus. The most recent saying he got married to Vena. They lived happily at a forge in the capital of Bular. All was well at the Delimbyra estate. The building was completely finished, and the landscaping was beautiful. They had staff members and servants running about the establishment.
