It had been over a month now since Jessica Cruz had left her apartment. Her only visitor in all that time was her sister, after all there was nobody else she had that would visit her. Not after she had left the only other one for dead. He had stopped trying to call her about two weeks ago, she was surprised he had kept it up that long.

Jessica still didn't much leave her bed, the only exceptions being the one time a week when her sister would come. Those days she'd very literally drag Jess from bed and force her to shower, eat, drink, and use the bathroom. That was the only day of the week when she'd do those things.

Jess was pulled from her thoughts as she heard her phone buzzing on her nightstand. She looked over at it and was surprised to see (y/n) calling once again. Once again she ignored it. She still couldn't face him, not even over the phone.

Jess let out a sad sigh as the phone stopped ringing and she looked to the window. During her last visit here Jess had made the older girl put up bars in front of all the windows like you'd see in a prison or the windows of a less than pleasant neighborhood. She didn't want to risk anyone getting into her apartment.

There was a sudden sound of a car backfiring outside and Jess quickly curled up into a ball as she began to cry, the images of her dead friends flashing through her mind. As it turned out there were many sounds that sounded like gunfire and they were much more frequent than she had once thought.

Jess continued to cry for another few minutes before she finally snapped out of it. She wiped her tears on her shirt sleeve and sniffed as she glanced back out the barred window. Soundproofing, that was an idea to look into.

Jess was laying in bed, listening to music a few hours later when she suddenly heard a sharp knocking on her front door which caused her to jolt upright, terrified by the loud noise.

She looked out the slightly open bedroom door and towards the front door. Of course she couldn't tell from here who was there but she wasn't about to get up. Maybe she'd have Sara install one of those video doorbells next week.

Jessica continued to stare, terrified, at the front door through the crack of space between the open bedroom door and the frame.

There was another few knocks and Jess silently cried once again as she imagined who could possibly be out there. Could it be the killer who had escaped? Had he come back to finish the job? Was it a burglar looking for someone to rob? The boy who had stalked her for a month in high school? A rapist who was looking for their next victim?

Jess slowly picked up her phone and was sure not to make any sort of noise as she began texting her sister, asking her to pick up a doorbell camera and bring it whenever she had the time.

Jess waited a while longer and luckily there were no more knocks. Her crying slowly stopped as she came to realize that whoever had been there must have left. She wiped her tears away before calling her sister.

(Y/n) stood in his kitchen, eating a bag of chips when he received a call from Sara Cruz. His cast was now off. He ignored the call at first but then another call came and he sighed before putting down the bag and picking up the call and putting it on speaker with his clean hand. "What do you want?"

"Something's really freaked out Jess" Sara replied quickly as he heard the sound of a car horn honking. "I'm trying to get there but there's a ton of traffic and it'll be a few hours"

"So?" (Y/n) asked tiredly as he picked up a chip and ate it. "Sara I tried-"

"(Y/n) she thought she was gonna be murdered or raped or-" the girl was cut off briefly as her cell connection wavered. "Can you please go-"

"Yeah" the boy rubbed his eyes with his clean hand and sighed. "Yeah I'll go check on her" he sighed, he may not love Jess right now but he didn't want her to be in danger either.

"Thank you!" Sara yelled happily. "I left a set of her keys on your couch when I dropped off your groceries a few nights ago"

(Y/n) unlocked the apartment door, there were many more locks than he remembered there being. He had tried calling Jess and so had Sara but she hadn't responded at all. "Jess! It's (y/n), Sara said something happened?" He called into the apartment as he entered it but wasn't met with any response.

His nose scrunched up as the smell of the place hit him. "Someone needs a shower" he whispered as he walked in and looked around. No Jessica in sight.

"Jess?" The boy entered the girls bedroom, knowing it was where she had been spending all her time from what Sara had told him. He was surprised not to see her before spotting the top of her head just barely peaking up from behind the bed.

Jessica sat on the floor between her bed and the wall as she held her baseball bat close to her chest. She had heard the sound of her locks being opened and she was sure that whoever had come by earlier had come back to finish whatever job they had come to accomplish.

She couldn't hear anything after that, only a ringing noise that was almost maddening. She silently cried as she suddenly and much to loudly heard footsteps entering her room. It was all she could hear.

She held her bat close as she heard the steps coming closer before seeing the last person she had expected to see walk past her bed and now standing in front of her.

"(Y/n)?" Jess dropped the bat to the floor as she started crying even harder than she had a moment before.

"Jess" (y/n) frowned as he saw her, in her mind this confirmed that he hated her now. "You've lost weight"

"And you've gained weight" Jess didn't know where it came from but she had suddenly felt very defensive. "Sorry" she whispered as she rubbed her tears away.

"It's fine" the boy muttered as he looked down at his body. "What happened? Sara said you were freaking out about something"

The boy walked towards Jess and she didn't stop him as he grabbed her by the shoulders and made her stand up. She wobbled a bit but he held her up.

"I- there was-" Jessica cried harder as she fell forward and leaned into the boy, crying into him. "At the door. He- I could- I could have been-" she cried even harder as the boy hugged her and rubbed her back comfortingly.

The room was silent for a minute expect for the sound of Jessica crying. "Do you hate me?" She asked quietly as she leaned into the hug, not wanting to see the boys face.

(Y/n) was silent for a moment before shaking his head. "Of course not" Jess cried harder upon hearing this. "I- no. I don't hate you" Jess knew he had been about to say something but had decided against it. She wanted to question it but she couldn't do anything but cry.
