Then came Twilight Gap. So many more friends died. His Titan friend Saizoh died with his mouth open in shock and his eyes looking to Vorialis for help. Saizoh had been a New Light whom Vorialis had met shortly before Twilight Gap. Saizoh had been too traumatized from his journey to the Last City to sleep at night, so Vorialis consoled him by lying opposite him on the rooftops of the Last City, naming the stars until Saizoh fell asleep. After the battle ended, Vorialis found the body of the poor Titan and gently closed Saizoh's eyes, his fear of death reflected in those irises, screaming the same terror back to him.
Another who died was Alexentine, the first Guardian he'd met the first time he entered the Last City, who threw Vorialis and his revolver "Shadefeller" to safety, before he and his Ghost disappeared under a small mountain of rubble, and exploding in a brilliantly golden paracausal explosion. Vorialis kept Shadefeller in his quarters, and although he never used it, he kept it loaded and well-maintained, to honor the memory of his first friend. So many more were lost, and Vorialis died 8 times trying to, somehow, at least save one of them.
Many would go on to celebrate Twilight Gap as a glorious victory for the Guardians and the Last City. Few who actually saw the battle were among those who celebrated, though.
