Vorialis and Reine eventually reached the Last City, and arrived to the sound of gunfire. Making their way through the streets in search of the noise's source, Vorialis was shot and killed by a stray bullet from a firefight between feuding factions. The bullet struck suddenly and inexplicably - an object too small and that moved too fast for him to see. When a faction of Risen arrived to break up the firefight, Reine felt safe enough to resurrect Vorialis.
When Vorialis awoke, the first thing he saw were the bodies of human civilians - creatures similar to Vorialis in appearance - killed in the firefight and lying on the ground. Panicking, he readied his bow, attempting to somehow defend himself against this death-dealing force that killed invisibly and without warning.
Then Vorialis saw someone - a member of the Risen group who'd stopped the fighting - walking towards him. Vorialis aimed his weapon, fearful of anything that wasn't on the floor or Reine. The Risen stopped, noticing Vorialis's attire; pelts - to keep him warm and placate his hypothermia-fears - a refugee-like backpack, a whittled wooden arrow notched in a bow, and a mask of terror on his face. This appearance led the Risen to assume Vorialis was not, at the very least, associated with the ones who'd been fighting previously.
Accommodating Vorialis's terror, the Risen attempted to reassure him by taking off his helmet and explaining to him the nature of the fighting that had just occurred. He explained bullets, showed him his Ghost, and offered Vorialis somewhere to stay in the Last City; somewhere he probably wouldn't get shot at with bullets. Anxious, but gaining confidence in the Risen's words, as well as being afraid of being killed by something like bullets again, Vorialis agreed to join him.
The Risen, whose name was Alexentine Sulis, showed Vorialis to his group of Risen friends, and over time, Vorialis grew to trust and then admire this group for their moral ideals of bravery and service, as well as their wisdom on the Darkness and the Light. The Order gave him new garments to wear, taught Vorialis much on the history of the Risen, the current state of the Last City, morality, and the nature of the mightiest powers in the universe: the Light and the Darkness. Alexentine personally showed Vorialis how to use weapons and harness his Light in practical, destructive ways, making him more confident with his Lightbearing abilities, and becoming Vorialis's first friend in the Last City. Another Praxic Warlock, a bladesmith and a friend of Alexentine's called Lesier Lomor, forged a sword as a gift to the Order's newcomer, and personally taught Vorialis how to use and maintain it, becoming Vorialis's second friend in the Last City.
Vorialis continuously impressed himself with how much he could care about others, and reveled in the joys of new friendships. He became very loyal to them, enamored by their knowledge, and when the Faction Wars ended and the Risen of the Praxic Order were included, as many other Orders of Risen were, as Guardians of the Vanguard, Vorialis was eager to prove himself.
He was among many Warlock volunteers tasked with helping the Titans with the Walls that were being built for the Last City: the construction processes and methods, the organization and implementation of building materials, the design of its more intricate particularities and spaces, etc. Vorialis found that he greatly enjoyed this kind of work, putting his intellect and critical thinking to use in the service of others.
