My memory replayed that moment over and over again. She, leaning on me, my breath catching her sweet smell of jasmine, and her soft, perfect lips colliding with mine. It was inevitable; that moment had stuck in my head as an obsession, making my heart race each time I revisited it.

The recovery treatment had ended, which meant I could return to Narval House and get back to work. Heather had returned before me, so I hadn't seen her since that day. I was nervous about seeing her again, but at the same time, I couldn't desire anything else.

Mark and Laura were waiting for my arrival and jumped affectionately at me as they saw me enter.

"We missed you so much!" Mark exclaimed.

"Yeah, leading with Mark is not the same without you!" Laura added, while Mark shot her a playful glare.

"I missed you too, guys. How has everything been around here these days?" I asked curiously.

"Quite boring, to be honest. After your adventure in the tower, we've been helping with repair work, especially at the border since the transfers will start again soon," Laura explained.

"And don't forget to mention we've been training for the combat exam, which is in three days," Mark said, sounding annoyed.

"Wow, the combat exam! I had totally forgotten,"

"Don't worry, Grace. Even without training, you'll be better than me," Mark responded cheerlessly.

"Well, I don't want to be better than you; I want to be better than everyone," I said with a grin.

"Look whose fame has gone to her head now that she's become a hero," Laura said mockingly.

"Just kidding, but I really want to get into training soon," I explained.

"Don't count on me then," Mark quickly expressed. "By the way, you got a message while you were at the hospital. It came from the city."

"Really?" My heart leaped with surprise.

"Yeah, it's on your bed," he said.

I rushed to my room, and on the bed, there was an envelope. I opened it, curious.

We need to talk. 13th at 18h in the central station. - Erik.

I stared at the message on the bed. The words seemed to dance before my eyes, and my heart raced. The 13th? That was today. 18h – one hour from now. Panic gripped me. I left all my stuff and ran to the door without realizing there was someone about to knock. I almost bumped into her. It was Heather.

"Wow, hello," she said, taking a step back instinctively to avoid colliding with me.

"Oh! I'm sorry," I said immediately. She wore her hair loose, with its perfect waves falling to her shoulders, and her scars had almost healed, giving her a tough look that made her especially sexy.

"Where are you going in such a rush?" she asked, confused. "Already back in action?" Heather teased.

"Well, no, I'm just... I need to... " I couldn't get the words out. Erik's note had grounded me, and many fears about my brother's whereabouts had arisen in me. Plus, I wasn't sure if I could tell Heather about it.

"I'm sorry, but I need to go. A friend is waiting for me in the city," I finally managed to say. Heather took a quick look at my hand and saw that I was holding a note.

"Sure, I came to check on you. But I won't bother if you have other plans," she said.

"You don't bother me at all. Thanks for coming, and I do want to make plans with you. Will I see you later tonight?" I asked her.
