chapter 10.
this time means forever
chapter song : the perfect pair
Today was a very solemn day for the Mighty Ducks, today two of their own we're leaving for North Carolina. And despite all the very good points Charlie Conway made to Jennie Banks, the girl was still in emotional distress. It was very clear to all of the ducks as the girl fiddled with the gift she'd made Tammy on their walk over to the Timmons household. No one said anything to the girl, figuring she might start crying if they did.
"You doing okay?" Of course, it would be Fulton Reed to break the ice. He placed a hand on Jennie's shoulder, he too was going through it. His first real crush and kiss was moving away before he had the chance to do anything about his feelings.
"I guess.. it'll be better there for her but you know.. this bites." Jennie kicked a small pebble down the sidewalk, "I know how you feel. First time I like a girl and she has to leave. Double bites."
Jennie patted his arm gently, "She likes you a lot by the way, maybe tell her before she leaves." Fulton nodded his head, though he was still unsure if he would do so. To tell Tammy he likes her right before she leaves.
It's something out of a romance book, not real life. Because Tammy would still leave. And chances of finding each other in real life were slim.
"I don't think that would be the best idea." Fulton disagreed after a moment of thinking, Jennie lifted a brow, "Why isn't it a good idea? I'd want to know, because then I'm always overthinking back on my time with that person. You should tell her."
Fulton took in Jennie's advice as they came upon the Timmons household, the moving trucks were already packed and ready to leave. Tommy was sat outside waiting for the group.
"You made it! I almost thought you guys wouldn't show." Tommy ran down to the group, pulling Charlie into a hug as he was the closest to him. "Of course we'd come. We won't see you guys for a while."
Adam reminded the boy as Tommy moved to hug him. "Yeah, man, don't forget you and Tammy will always be a Duck." Jesse reminded the boy, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I know.. Jennie, you can go inside, she's waiting for you."
Jennie froze, looking back at Fulton, who sent her a nod, "Okay, I'll be back." Jennie headed into the house, heading up to Tammy's room, or old room, where she knew the girl would be.
"Come in, cake eater." Jennie laughed at Tammy's tease, she entered the empty room, "This is so weird." Jennie spoke as she looked around the empty room, Tammy nodded sadly. "Believe me, I know, I probably cried 6 times seeing this place empty."
Tammy breathed out, rubbing her sweaty palms on her pants, "11 years of being in those house, this town, and the freezing winters. And I just have to pack up my life and leave."
Jennie frowned at her friends sadness, she knew Tammy didn't want to leave, but knew it was best for her to do so. "I know, Tams, but it'll be better for your family in North Carolina.. you'll make a lot of new friends, I know it."
