Fyodor was curdled above Nikolai, A long night full of multiple scenarios.
'mrrm' Nikolai pushed his head against Fyodor.
Fyodor had trouble sleeping, as usual. Fyodor genuinely had somnia and insomnia in one hit.
Nikolai's soft sound pulled Fyodor from his thoughts, his gaze shifting down to the boy nestled beneath him.
He brushed a strand of hair from Nikolai's forehead, his touch gentle as he traced his fingers along the contours of Nikolai's face.
"Can't sleep, Fedya?" Nikolai's voice was a hushed whisper, his fingers finding their way to Fyodor's hand, intertwining with his fingers.
Fyodor's lips curved into a faint smile, his eyes holding a mixture of fondness and a hint of frustration. "No, I can't seem to quiet my mind," he admitted, his voice a soft murmur in the quiet room.
Nikolai shifted slightly, pulling Fyodor closer until their bodies were pressed together, their warmth mingling in the cool night air. "Tell me what's on your mind," he urged, his fingers tracing soothing patterns on Fyodor's back.
Fyodor's gaze softened as he looked into Nikolai's eyes, a mixture of vulnerability and affection in his gaze. "It's just... everything," he began, his words slow and thoughtful. "The past, the future, the weight of responsibilities." His voice held a tinge of sadness, as if he were wrestling with emotions he rarely allowed himself to acknowledge.
Nikolai's fingers continued their gentle movements, a silent encouragement for Fyodor to share. "You don't have to carry all of that alone, Fedya," Fyodor lifted his head back up, cradling the boy in his arms "But I do, that's the thing."
Fyodor starts to tear up. As Fyodor's tears fell, Nikolai sensed the shift in his emotions. He continued to hold him close, his touch gentle and comforting. Without a word, he reached up and brushed his fingers against Fyodor's cheek, catching a tear on his fingertip.
"Fedya," Nikolai's voice was soft, filled with a mixture of tenderness and concern. "It's okay to let it out. You don't have to hold everything in."
Fyodor's grip on Nikolai tightened, his head burying into the crook of Nikolai's neck as he allowed his tears to flow. He had always been the stoic one, the one who never showed vulnerability. But with Nikolai, he felt safe enough to release the emotions he had kept hidden for so long.
Nikolai held him even closer, his own heart aching at the sight of Fyodor's vulnerability. He continued to stroke Fyodor's hair soothingly, offering silent comfort and a space for him to just be.
"You're not alone, Fedya," Nikolai whispered, his words a gentle reminder of the support that surrounded them. "I'm here, and I'll always be here, no matter what."
Fyodor's tears gradually subsided, his breathing evening out as he clung to Nikolai. He pulled back slightly, his gaze meeting Nikolai's, his eyes still shimmering with unshed tears. "Thank you, Kolya," he whispered, his voice filled with a mix of gratitude and a newfound sense of lightness.
Nikolai's smile was soft, his fingers brushing against Fyodor's cheek once more. "Anytime, Fedya. I'm here to catch you when you fall, to listen when you need to talk, and to hold you through it all."
