A New Baby

My water just broke!" Tanya gasps. I quickly strip the sheets from under her then get new ones and put on the bed lifting Tanya up as I put the sheets on. Tanya starts screaming in pain from the contractions. Irina knocks on the door asking if we were ok. "Get in here Irina! She's having the baby!" Irina speeds through the door. "Ok you hold her hand and try soothing her while I'll be ready to catch the little one." Irina says. I hand her one of Dawson's baby blankets and speed down to Carmen informing her that we're having the baby and ask if she'd watch the children for me. She says yes and then I speed to Tanya and hold her hand. She immediately starts squeezing. I'm sure I'll have some cracks till the baby's born. I did last time. I keep soothing her, telling her how great she's doing and it'll be over soon. Irina just sits there waiting, rubbing Tanya's leg now and then telling us how dilated she is. "She's at 6 cm! She's getting close!" Irina tells us. Tanya screams and cries some more. I keep telling her we're close now and it shouldn't be long till the baby's born. She squeezes my hand and I feel it cracking, OW! "Oh wow, you're at 10 cm! It's time to start pushing!" Tanya immediately starts pushing. She grunts and groans and screams in pain. "I see the head! Keep pushing Tanya! You're doing great!" Irina encourages her to push some more. Tanya pushes and squeezes my hand some more, "Ouch!" I couldn't help but yelp out in pain. "What's wrong?" Tanya asks as she pants. "You squeezed the life out of my hand is all. It's ok. I'm ok. Just keep pushing our precious baby out." I say. "Well I'm sorry but you push something the size of a watermelon out and see how you feel!" Tanya says in a huff. "I'm sorry babe, it'll be over soon." She huffs at me and starts pushing again. "They're almost out just keep pushing!" Irina says. "They're out!" The baby starts crying right away. "It's a baby girl! She looks just like Ember!" I look at the time. 7 am! She'd been in labor for 5 hours! Irina bites the umbilical cord and ties it. She wraps my little girl in the blanket and hands her to me. I hold her and still hold Tanya's hand while Tanya continues to grunt and groan as she delivers the after birth. I kiss Tanya's head as she finishes up  then I take our little one to the bathroom to clean her up. I use Dawson's baby tub and clean her up. Irina helps Tanya get cleaned up then changes the sheets on the bed again. Tanya lays down and I bring our daughter to her to hold. "She's so precious!" Tanya coos. She touches her nose, strokes her cheek, and holds her tiny hand. "What are we calling her love?" I ask Tanya. "Callie Anne Denali." She smiles down at our daughter. I kiss Tanya then I kiss Callie. I speed downstairs and find the twins eating breakfast. "Did mommy have the baby?" They both ask. "She sure did. You want to see your little sister?" I ask. "Yes! I am going to be the best big brother! I'll protect her, Ashlyn, and Dawson!" Blaze says proudly. "A sister! Yay I have a little sister to play with!" Ashlyn says excitedly. "Let's go see her come on!" I take their hands and pull them gently upstairs. We get in the room and they go running to their mommy's side. "She looks like me! And Daddy!" Blaze says. "She's so little!" Ashlyn says. "You were that little once too." Tanya says smiling. "Sit down in the glider over there and Daddy will help you each hold her." I say. They start fighting for the chair. "Ashlyn got to the chair first Blaze, we'll let her hold Callie first. Don't worry you can hold her next I promise." Ashlyn sits down and I take Callie from Tanya. Blaze jumps up into bed with Tanya to cuddle until it's his turn. I settle Callie in Ashlyn's arms and stay close by them. Ashlyn holds Callie in the crook of her arm. "What a beautiful girl you are! I will love you just like I love Blaze and Dawson and mommy and daddy!" Ashlyn keeps telling Callie about all the fun things they're going to do, like playing with dolls and Barbies and color and so much fun stuff. "Ok Daddy, Blaze, can have a turn now!" Ashlyn says. I take Callie from Ashlyn and help her get off the chair and Blaze sits down. I set Callie in his arms and he just stares at her as he holds her carefully. "I love you Cal. I'll protect you. No one's gonna hurt you while me and Daddy's around." Blaze says. He sits there content just holding her. After a while he says "Daddy my arms kinda tired can you take her now?" "Of course bud. Babies get heavy after holding them a while don't they kiddo?" I reply. I take Callie and set her in Tanya's arms. I go get Dawson from Carmen and go back to our bedroom. Ashlyn's cuddling on one side of Tanya and Blaze on the other side with Callie in the middle on Tanya's lap. I sit down beside Ashlyn and hold Dawson. Our family together cuddling! I love it.
After a while we all go downstairs and introduce Callie to the rest of our family. Kate and Irina start fighting over who gets to hold Callie first. Carmen swoops in and takes her looking smug. Kate and Irina look at Carmen with big eyes and open mouths. I start laughing. They look like two fish with their mouths opening shutting! "It's Eleazar's turn after me so don't even ask!" Carmen says. I look to Kate and Irina. "Could you please watch the kids while I take my fiancé hunting? She looks starved. I'm sure going through labor was rough on her." I say. "Of course we'll watch the little rascal!" Kate says and ruffles Blazes hair. I thank her and Tanya and I go hunting. Better watch out bears, here I come!
