"ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ᴏɴᴇ"

AS I sit at my desk, absentmindedly doodling on my notebook, I am suddenly interrupted by the sound of my sister's footsteps rushing towards my room. "Okay, what is it now?" I ask, slightly annoyed by the interruption.

With a smile on her face, she informs me that Jake is waiting for me at the door. "Alright, I'll be down in a minute!" I reply, my voice carrying a sense of urgency. "Get out of my room!" I add, shooing her away.

My sister, Hannah, she's always been a bit annoying, but she's also quite understanding. Whenever I have serious situations to discuss, she knows how to be supportive rather than bothersome. She's brave, always ready to take on any challenge.

Active and energetic, she never seems to run out of energy. Above all, she is incredibly kind-hearted, willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. As I daydream about these qualities, Hannah's voice snaps me back to reality. "Earth to Amelia!" she shouts, waiting for me to respond.

Irritated by the interruption, I grab my jacket and start running downstairs, eager to meet Jake at the door.

I opened the door, and Jake greeted me with a smile. "Hey Jakey," I playfully called out, fully aware that he despised that nickname. "Ok, enough with that stupid nickname," he retorted, his tone laced with irritation.

"Are you coming or not?" he asked impatiently. In response, I mustered a smile and replied, "Okay, I'm coming with." We stepped out of the door, embarking on a leisurely stroll while indulging in conversation.

"So, which garage sale did you mention?" I inquired curiously. Jake shrugged casually and confidently asserted, "I'll just know." As our walk continued, he surprised me by casually inviting, "Do you want to come with me to have dinner with my cousin tonight?" The notion intrigued me, and I eagerly agreed to join him, curious about this new chapter unfolding in our friendship.

Sure, I smiled at Jake as we arrived at the garage sale.

.....

Taking a quick look around, something immediately caught my eye. With excitement, I pointed at a doll, its ginger hair and a pair of overalls with a signature that read "Child's Play".

Jake picked up the doll, but my attention was soon diverted to a display of jewelry. Being a lover of all things sparkly, Jake knew this about me, or at least I hoped he did. Among the collection, a necklace with a beautiful blue rhinestone pendant caught my eye.
