Prologue
"Mom, how'd you meet Dad?" My daughter, Soriah, asks.
"Well, I met Alec a long time ago. We'd have to go back to my childhood for that story," I tell her.
"Mom, Dad's name is Xavier," Riah states confusedly.
"In this life, yes but we've been around the block many times," I wrap my arms around her and bring her into my lap. "Our story starts in his and Aunty Helena's first lifetime when they were Alexander and Isabelle Lightwood."
"Ok," She says excitedly.
"So, my mom was a shadowhunter and my father was the greater demon, Asmodeus. The power in a shadowhunter-warlock hybrid was too strong for her and killed her when I was born. So I was sent to live with my Grandmother, Imogen. That lasted for about 6 months until she realized she could not raise a warlock. Neither a baby nor shadowhunter can control magic. Thus I was sent to live with my brother on my father's side, Magnus Bane," I started.
"Wow! How old is Uncle Magnus, Mama?" Riah asks, looking up at me.
"Oh, I think he must be around 500 now," I respond.
"Woah! That's so old Mama," She exclaims.
"I know, baby," I tell her.
"Why, I think it's very rude to discuss one's age when they aren't here to defend themselves," Magnus says coming in from the kitchen, where he usually portals into.
"Uncle Magnus!" Soriah exclaims, jumping up from my lap and going to hug him.
"My Little Star!" He calls back, picking her up and spinning her around. "What are you and mom up to today?"
"Mom's telling me about how she met Dad, she just told me that she was going to live with you," She answers excitedly.
"Oh! How interesting. Shall we let her continue?" Magnus asks.
"Yea, yea, yea," She chants.
"Alright then, I stayed with Magnus for a few years with him controlling and teaching me magic. Grandma Imogen would still come and visit when she could. When I turned 10 Grandma decided I had a well enough hold on my magic to be trained as a shadowhunter. I however didn't want to be separated from my brother, so we agreed that I would stay at the New York Institute to not be separated from my family and keep up with magic. There I met Alexander and Isabelle Lightwood and Jace... well his name was Wayland when I first met him. We all became the best of friends. We all shared everything. Though I was closer to Isabelle, while Jace and Alec became parabatai. Over the course of the years, I grew a crush on Alec and him on me. It took years for us to start dating though. We started dating when we were about 21, when Clary came into our lives," I shook my head chuckling. "Man, Alec hated Clary when she first showed up. He never admitted it, but the chaos she brought into our lives is what finally got us together,"
"What happened next Mom?" Riah asked me
"Another time Love, I'm late for a date with your dad and you have a sleepover to get to with Uncle Magnus and Uncle Ragnor," I say, hugging her.
"Alright," She concedes. "But you have to finish telling me."
"I promise, Starshine," I tell her.
