Chapter 1- We're Just Friends... Best Friends
"We don't know this girl. There's no such thing as new Shadowhunters," I hear Alec say as I portal into the institute, returning from my lessons with Magnus.
"There is now," Izzy replies.
"Ooh, do we have a new recruit?" I ask announcing myself.
"No," Alec replies bitterly. "Jace found a mundane on the street and runed her, then brought her back here,"
"Did that Idiot make a forsaken!" I exclaim. "I know the idiot gets bored but was that his only option? Are all of his hookups busy?"
"No, no," Izzy laughs lightly. "He didn't make a forsaken the girl is perfectly fine, she's just been out for a few days"
"Oh. Then Alec, what has your panties in a twist? He saved a fellow Shadowhunter," I state, calming down.
"She came out of nowhere! We can't trust her!" Alec states exasperated.
"Ok, ok, calm down. Explain to me what happened," I say trying to soothe the tension in the room.
"Ok, so 2 days ago we had a mission, there was a shapeshifter pedaling mundane blood, and we tracked them to the Pandemonium in the V.I.P room. We're close to figuring it out when the girl yells out warning the demon and a fight starts. We end up winning and she's gone. Me and Izzy tried to convince him she was just a mundane with the sight but he followed her anyway. When Jace finds her she's being attacked in an antique store by a ravener demon, he runes her and brings her back here, and she just woke up after 2 days." Alec summarizes.
"Ok, so that is a lot, and we should be wary, Yes. We have no reason to trust her, but we also have no reason to distrust her. We'll figure it out. But let's at least start with being neutral towards her until it gets proven one way or another," I reason. "Can you agree to that?"
"Fine," Alec says begrudgingly.
"Good, now that that's over, how was your week with your mysterious brother? We missed you," Izzy interjects, walking over to hug me.
"It was good, a lot of magic and bonding. I missed you guys too," I say, returning her hug.
The 3 of us walk through the corridors of the institute catching up on the other things missed in the days I've been away. Alec's arm naturally finds its way around my waist, as it does Izzy shoots me a look that I ignore. The three of us walk into the central hub of the institute as Jace walks in the front doors with who I assume must be the girl he saved and another mundane.
"Jace, this isn't a coffee shop, this isn't a place for mundanes to just hang out. Who is he and why is he here?" Alec proclaims.
"Yea, I know. He's Clary's friend, he tracked her here. It's kinda creepy if you think about it. Anyway, a circle member followed him to get to Clary" Jace replies.
Leaning over to Izzy, on my right side, I quietly ask her, "I assume the redhead is Clary, and is our so-called mundane?"
"Yes," She whispered back to me.
"Who do you think the mundie is?"
"Maybe it's her boyfriend?"
"Perhaps, that face, he's hopelessly in love with her,"
"Yea, but the way Clary is looking at Jace, it's complete puppy infatuation,"
"So we're thinking unrequited love?"
"Yea, definitely,"
"Then I think the subplot, for whatever adventure we're inevitably going on, will be very interesting,"
