A shot had been fired.

The sound of blood splattered against the wall. If it weren't for the sound of the gun, it almost sounded like thick paint drenching the wall. For a moment, she wondered if she had been shot, or Leon who was in front of her, but the body collapsing onto the floor and hitting the wall came from Claire's cell. A sharp pain pierced her heart.

The body belonged to Dr. Antonio Taylor.

"You waited too long, Jill. I'm disappointed."

Dylan's taunting voice reached their ears.

Antonio gasped quietly before his head hit the floor. His breaths were shallow, he had been shot somewhere else that wasn't his head but the wound worsened by the second. He was practically scrambling to stay alive.

"You bastard!" Jill seethed before moving as if to get closer to Dylan before letting out a cry of pain. María's terrifyingly sharp senses caught her wrist and pulled it before twisting that arm to disarm her in one quick motion. There was six of them, yet nothing they could do. As the air weighed down with dread, there was a sense of that their hopes were souring and rotting.

"Jill!" Leon called out, shattering that quiet fear.

His hands grabbed for something on his vest before letting a little ring clatter to the floor. Everyone's eyes flooded with a bright piercing light and a sharp ringing noise. He'd let off a flash grenade and in that window of opportunity...Jill ran.

As the light died down, she was gone.

Seraphina let out a sigh of relief. Dylan hardly appeared to be worried by her disappearance, putting all his faith into his drones to find her if he really wanted to. Unlike him, in a rage, María swung her heeled foot across Leon's face and knocked him all the way to the floor with a loud crack. He scrambled to get away from her in his weakened state before María dug her sharp heel into his chest.

"Leon...!" Seraphina said and gasped at the sight. Maria's grudge was showing with her violent and rash behavior, digging her heel further into his combat armor and making sure it'd reach his chest. The blonde woman let out a huff before letting go and turning back towards Dylan, anticipating his next word.

"Don't worry about them. They'll suffer for a while, then turn soon enough. As for Jill...she can do whatever she wants," Dylan said to María and started to limp away with his cane. Thud, thud, thud, that unsettling noise reverberated through the air. "We're at the final stage now. Once the bio-drones hatch from their Licker hosts, we'll have millions. They'll leave the island and then there's no stopping them."
