So the first half of the Talent Show is over and say we aced the performance.
The dancers that will be performing in the next half had to cut their lunch time short to get dressed. Unfortunately, Ryan and I are two of those people. I notified my friends and followed Ryan to the musical theatre dressing rooms.
The room was spacious, enough to fit three preschool classes. I sighed at the sight of casual themed dressed dancers from short to tall, from boy to girl. I stalked past a wall of people to a row of curtain shield rooms, which were luckily available.
I stepped inside one and closed the curtain. From my bag, I pulled out a baby blue rumba dress that was wrapped in areas, a clear back and had rhinestones shattered throughout the fabric. I gently took out the dance strapped heels and buckled them on.
I searched for my make up bag, and out came the cosmetics. Sadly, I had to remove the lip tattoo and replace it with matte nude lipstick. I touched up my previous makeup and tied half of my hair to the right side of my head.
I looked in the mirror one last time, let out a sigh and hopped out of the room.
Only to slam into a chest. I stepped back and rubbed my head.
"My God, Sky, you took so long, I thought you passed out in there," he said. I looked up and he smiled, "I was about to walk in there to check if you were okay."
I scanned through the room, a pair and a group of people were gone. The show must have started already.
"Wow, did I really take that long?" I asked, shifting my gaze back to Ryan.
"Kind of, but don't worry, we're the fifth performance, than we go back on after two more acts." I let out a breath and nodded. Ryan led me to an empty sofa.
Out of nowhere, my phone appeared in my shaking hands, "what the?" I said looking at them.
"You look nervous," he accused, joining my on the seat.
"I'm not nervous, how am I nervous? Are you nervous? Oh my God I'm blabbing, do I blab when I'm ner-" I was about to continue speeding my mouth when Ryan slapped his hand over it.
"Yep, you're nervous," he assured. He retrieved his hand and gave me his heartwarming smile. He then, held my hands and stood up. I took the hint and followed his actions. He grinned and gazed into my eyes, while gently sliding my phone out of my tense grip and into his.
"What are you?" I trailed off by his warming stare.
"Let's take some pictures." I let out a giggle due to his observations. I've always took pictures or drew when I was nervous, stressed, depressed, or the total opposite.
He held my phone up and started taking random selfies. Our expressions went in this exact order: normal, puckered lips & squinted eyes, cute, shooked, dramatic, sad, happy, then we did a bunch of weird, stupid and funny faces.
We were laughing like there's no tomorrow, until a backstage crew member opened the door.
"Ryan Cortez and Skylar Diamond, you are about to go up on stage!" He yelled and waited. We stopped mid-laugh and straighten up.
"Ready!" We shouted in unison. My bag was in the cubby, so I just slipped my phone in the pocket on my way out.
We followed the guy crew member and we arrived backstage as the act ahead of us startes their performance. The room we were previously in, leads to a three way occupied tunnels, one leads to the auditorium, the other leads to the ballroom, and the last goes to a mixture of both. In the Talent show, the first half is in the auditorium for singing, acting, etc., but the dances and tricks are displayed in the ballroom. Yes, Ritchwood High School has a ballroom. This area contains a balcony and seats surrounding the levitateable dance floor. The floor itself has a stairway leading to a stage for instruments or positions. I've watched Ryan dance a lot here...
