"Look at me."
He snapped. My head shot up.
That headless sea monster in his eyes grew bigger and bigger in a shadow.
I blinked, my mind lavishing turmoil.
"Today is our big day Callie. Hope you suffer as much as I enjoy it."
Silence gave up.
He left.
I caught a glimpse of my ghost face gawking back at me in the mirror.
What....what did he mean? Suffer as much as he enjoys it?
What is going to happen?
What are you going to do, Donnor?
My stomach did flip-flops. A crashing wave came over me.
Oh no! I need to stall him!
I rushed outside, catching up to him.
"Wait!"
He stopped right at the tip of the opened door.
My feet were screaming at me to step back. My rib cage compressed.
I fought against it, going towards him. I forced myself to talk with my shaky mouth.
"Wait! There is some emergency..."
He didn't say anything.
I shot a look at the kitchen.
"I think the gas is leaking..."
He raised his eyebrows.
"That's your job."
"What!? Your place might burn down! Let's take a look!"
I held his hand again. This time mine were hot and his were ice cold, sending shivers down my spine.
"Look....I think this thing is broken.."
I let him stand behind me as I bent over to take a look at the cylinders, doing nothing but fidgeting with the knob.
"I think--"
"There is no smell."
"Yeah but---"
He grabbed my arm, pushing me aside.
"What is this, Callie?"
I looked at the knob, pointing.
"Look...I thought it broke or something.. I am sorry okay...you can go now..."
I wasn't sure if we hit the 15-minute mark. I didn't care.
He didn't let go of my arm. I groaned.
"Ow! Back off!"
